We visited both the easten and the western part of the National Park; the western part been opened in 2013. We saw a lot of animals (different antelopes, buffaloes, hippos, rhinoceros, giraffes, elephants, many different kinds of birds, etc., etc.) and were mostly alone on the roads and loops. Cape Vidal has a great beach; you can get food, ice... More

The drive from the St Lucia gate to Cape Vidal was excellent. Saw lots of wildlife. The stop at Mission Rocks was a nice break with a good trail to the viewing spot. PS, use the toilets before going up so you dont need to rush back down. Nice swimming beach at Cape Vidal. Ok ablutions.

For the price we paid we expected a little more excitement of our guides. We didn't see any elephants and the guides drove unexcitedly through the reserve. No connection to other guides in the reserve which would make gaming much more effective. A self-driver game drive in the Eastern shores is so much more yielding.

we travel every year in January to ST Lucia Wetlands and the offering at the entire ST Lucia area is fantastic!!! you have to visit Cape Vidal for snorkel at low tide. Take a ride on the Parks Board boat up the Estuary. Sunset with a glass of wine and camp chairs at the Estuary are a must, watching the... More

Drove with our own car through iSimangaliso Wetland Park, Eastern Shores, heading towards the beach at Cape Vidal. Saw rhino's 10 meters next to the road, took some great pictures!

Take a tour with one of the operators in the boat and watch the crocodiles on the land and the hippo's in the water, making a lot of noise.

We did an evening game drive here, but saw very little. The guides however, from heritage tours, were excellent and well informed, but maybe we were just unlucky. We went again 2 days later on a full day which included a lovely stop with a bbq lunch at cape Vidal.there doesn't appear to be much game viewing in the park, but it is... More

We had a night drive on the western shores. Seeing hippos out of the water is amazing and they run really fast. We even saw a pack of hyenas wondering around the road. They gave us all the time for a good look.

The variety of animals you can see, the nature, the night game drive, the fact that it is close to St Lucia.
