Isimangaliso Wetland Park After a three hour drive from Durban we arrived at the small town of St Lucia, now quite famous for its Wetland Park. The system of entry into KZN wildlife parks is most confusing. The payments do not make sense and the staff manning the gate are not incredibly knowledgable or friendly. The park has the most beautiful landscapes and the hides are some of the best I've seen. There is a lot of attention to detail, but the game sightings were somewhat... More

There is a main paved road throuh the park and then off shoots to various viewpoints which are dirt roads. You can stop and get out in places. We really liked spending a long morning driving through at our own pace, spotting birds and animals (incl a huge rhino!) as we went.

The Eastern shores and the drive from St Lucia to Cape Vidal have been extensively reviewed . I will try to provide info on the newer Western Shore Park of St Lucia , a very credible and worthwhile attraction on its own . This Park has very scenic drives , plenty of viewpoints / hides / lookouts and intersting wildlife... More

Lovely area for game viewing and pristine beaches. If you enjoy the outdoor life there is plenty to occupy yourself there. It's a safe area and the people are very friendly.

It's easy to underestimate this park because it's no Kruger or Pilanesburg park, but make no mistake, this is one of the most unique parks in South Africa. The biodiversity of this park is amazing. I enjoyed the charm of the picnic spots overlooking the Indian Ocean, and the St Lucia Lake itself. There is a rich diversity of wetlands... More

Exceptional spotting of animals with shakabarker tours. Guides can help spotting (unbelieveable what they see) and tell you a lot of background information. Superb.
