After watching the show Chimp Eden years ago, and then watching it in reruns on Animal Planet, it was so exciting to see them in person! Eugene and the staff have done so much to rescue these chimps from terrible situations. It was great hearing the stories of their rescues, It's not possible for them to live in the wild... More

The first time we went from Komatipoort to Nelspruit to visit Chimp Eden it started raining on the way to Nelspruit. Not much but when we arrived in the morning we were told that as a result the sanctuary stayed closed. But would be open when it would be dry. We came back later that afternoon, the weather had changed... More

The sanctuary is quite small but that doesn't matter as the information given is informative and interesting. I learned a lot about chimpanzees that I didn't know previously and the guide was knowledgeable and prepared to answer many questions. A highly recommended tour!

This is a definite MUST visit for all visitors to Nelspruit or the surrounding area. The sanctuary is well run and very informative. The staff are passionate and the Chimps are definitely the stars of the show. Thank you, Jane Goodall, for taking care of these chimps after their tough lives and giving them a space of their own.

The compulsory tour is quite expensive, while the staff seems to focus on rather random emotional stories rather than providing good scientific background and information on the work of the centre. The guide seems to primarily use an anthropomorphic style with the chimps, e.g. engaging in scolding and punitive language. However, the chimps themselves provide much food for thought for... More

I still want to go this venue. it used to be known as "Chimp Eden". If you are into conservation, then this is a "must see" on your itinerary. It is a little expensive to get in, but knowing your money's going towards a worthy cause, makes it worthwhile or me...definitely my next stop...

We had a wonderful experience here. Our guide was very informative, and the Sanctuary is doing such important work. But the very best thing was just enjoying the chimps. Hearing their stories, seeing their personalities made for a delightful time.

I have regular visions of these chimps and their antics. Some have suffered very badly at the hands of their human cousins. This lot at least are living a decent life.

Loved every minute of it. Meeting the chimps at last was a dream come true. I will never forget it for as long as I live.
