We followed the spectacular rim of the Blyde River Canyon, an amazing 20-mile long and 2,300-foot deep gorge cutting a vast swathe through the Great Escarpment. Deep circular rock formations created by years of erosion and many excellent vantage points offer superb photo opportunities of some of the most breathtaking views in Africa.

PICK THE RIGHT WEATHER, AND THE VIEWS ARE SPECTACULAR. Great views over the river and the three Roundels. standing on the edge of the rocks feels like you are looking down from the clouds. well worth a visit, just to take in the breathtaking scenery from so high up.

Absolutely loved these unbelievable views of the canyon! Truly breathtaking! The mountains that stretch forever, the river way down below, the 3 Rondawels that jut out and the little birdies that come to say hello :) - a must see.

Having not been to the other two we were duly impressd by the greenery, the rock formations and the river itself way down in the bottom. The photographic opportunities were limitless, every view just so beautiful, despite some thunder and lightning during our visit - it just added more drama to the occasion.

The view from the lookout points at Blyde River Canyon is truly magnificent!! You look down into a spectacular gorge, at the bottom of which is a huge dam surrounded by stunning mountainous scenery including the 3 rondawels ( mountain peaks shaped like round, thatched roofed cottages that one often sees in the rural areas of South Africa ) The... The Blyde River Canyon is the greenest Canyon in the world. It is amazingly beautiful, green, lush, peaceful and just pure natural bliss. Hiking it is best, get those shoes on and get up close and personal with perfection!
