The view from the lookout points at Blyde River Canyon is truly magnificent!! You look down into a spectacular gorge, at the bottom of which is a huge dam surrounded by stunning mountainous scenery including the 3 rondawels ( mountain peaks shaped like round, thatched roofed cottages that one often sees in the rural areas of South Africa ) The... The Blyde River Canyon is the greenest Canyon in the world. It is amazingly beautiful, green, lush, peaceful and just pure natural bliss. Hiking it is best, get those shoes on and get up close and personal with perfection!

Had a few hours to fill between safaris so took a trip there. Stunning views, photo subjects abound. The dam is spectacular but to get to it means descending several lots of steep steps and some rough terrain. Small fee to get in, negligible. Visitor centre means well and the single member of staff was very helpful but it would... More

Not sure, having read a few other reviews, what counts as Blyde River Canyon and what as Panorama Route (or are they the same?). In any case, we worked our way north from The Pinnacle (not far north of Graskop) and God's Window to Three Rondavels, stopping at every site. It was easily done in a day without rushing (including... More

It was my first drive past & through the canyon , and I was overwhelmed by the natural beauty and scale of the landscape, be sure to follow the road past the canyon and go through the strijdom tunnel and you will also be blown away by the way the landscape opens up into a different spectacle! The nature reserve... More

We traveled through Mpumalanga on the way to Kruger, stopping at the Blyde River Canyon. This was in early January, and the butterflies were in full swing. Not just a few, but thousands! The various flowers were in full bloom also which was stunning.

Has become a bit too commercialized, but still as beautiful as when I saw it years ago! Worth a visit.

The Blyde River Canyon officially starts at the Bourke's Luck Pot Holes; however you are met with views of the developing canyon as you drive north from God’s Window. The third largest in the world, it is also the largest “green” canyon. It is an experience not to be missed as you drive look out for baboons, vervet monkeys and... More
