My wife and I visited this KZN park a few weeks ago for the first time since 1997, and were happy to re-discover the scenic wonders of this remote corner of the province. We were upgraded from a non-selfcatering chalet to a spacious self-catering unit, with a bath. The chalet was in good condition, set apart from the others, which... More

Although it doesn't have all the BIG 5 - this is a beautiful reserve with a great variety of vegetation, beautiful landscapes, many bird species and still many antelope and other animals to keep you entertained. The service was great and we will certainly be back.

We stayed here for a couple of days and really enjoyed it. Was so quiet and at times it felt like we were the only ones in the park! Loved the experience completely. The beds were the most comfortable beds we have EVER slept on. Breakfasts at the restaurant were fantastic. Loved every minute of our stay here!

my hubby, in-laws and i stayed for 1 nite on our way back to Joburg. our accomms were chalet #11. it was adorable, cozy and rustic. i loved the views the most. we only saw a handful of animals here and there but by then, we had seen plenty from our last 3 park stays on this trip. so mostly,... The experience was amazing, the staff were very friendly and helpful. we did a night game drive and the ranger was very good and spotted animals before all of us in the bus. it is a great place to unwind and relax and go for walks. there are walks available with a game ranger but the weather wasnt kind to... With another couple, we spent three nights at Thalu Bush Camp in Ithala Game Reserve in Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa. The bush camp was very comfortable, clean, fully equipped for a wilderness camp: a liquid propane tank provided energy for gas lights, cooking, refrigeration, hot water; the setting on the stream bank was scenic; and as night fell we... This is a very relaxed Reserve with lots of game to see: Impalas, Zebras, Rhinos, Giraffes, Kudus, Gnus, Wilderbeasts, Warthogs, Ostriches, Baboons etc. Unfortunately the 160 elephants (as we were told) were hiding very well so we didn't meet them, as is also true for the secretive Leopards, which tracks though can be found everywhere. No lions!!! A breathtaking nature,... More

Ithala is a very scenic game reserve. Although there are no lions there is still plenty to see- it is also nice that you can get out at the lookout points and picnic sites (due to there being no lions). We stayed in the self catering chalets which are very comfortable, We also ate quite a few times at the... More

If you need some serious relaxation go no further than Ithala Game Park in northern Kwazulu Natal. Chalets are basic but clean and within easy walking distance from main reception, dining and bar areas. Unfortunately staff are a little unfriendly and never seem to smile and service is very slow from the snack restaurant. However the whole ambience is quiet... More

After spending two days at a private game reserve I loved my time at Ithala. The chalets are clean, well equipped and excellent value. We did not join the organised game drives and spotted a lone rhino, elephants, giraffes, baboons, wildebeest, zebra and lots of buck . Admittedly the elephants where seen on a 4x4 only road. We ended our... More
