Wonderful drive

I liked that route a lot, such amazing mountains and views, a lot more interesting than many other parts of Route 66

On Route 66 to Oatman AZ. It's the Historic pass through the mountains on 66 to get to California. If you read the Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck, well this is mentioned in the book. Watch out for wild donkeys, bighorn ram and mule deer. On top of the pass is a graveyard over the hill. Yep! The term over... More

Witness the majesty of the terrain! Winding roads, hairpin curves and expansive, heavenly views from this newly paved road make it an enjoyable drive. Experience this excellence in the morning when it's less travelled.

We set off at 8am from Kingman and had the newly-resurfaced twisty road to ourselves. It must be one of the best stretches of Route 66 both for the driving enjoyment and the fantastic views. Go early to avoid the crowds and getting stuck behind a tour bus; once we got onto the twisties we only saw 2 cars coming... More

Amazing scenery driving on Route 66 from Kingman to Oatman. I really felt as though I was driving along a piece of American history. Just go & do it! Highly recommended.

We drove from Oatman, AZ to the Grand Canyon after visiting that deserted mining town. The view is unexpectedly impressive, almost like an overture to what we saw later in DC. It's 60% down hill slope with a lot of curves, so a bit of thrill ride. :-D

This spot is in the best section of Rte 66, especially if you're on a motorcycle. Lots of twists & turns. There's a nice spot to pull off & there are great views everywhere you look. This is a few miles before you get into Oatman if you are coming from Kingman. One early evening I got great photos of... More

Fun road, great views, and the occasional burro. Traveled through on the way from LA to Flagstaff as part of a 2 week road trip. Was a deliberate trip through the pass, mapping software bypasses it in favor of time. It added maybe an hour all told. Oatman was fun to drive through, not much to stop for. The pass... More

Nice ride out if the weather is good, wouldn't have liked it in rain as you were a bit close to the edge at times and the car at the bottom of the valley was off-putting. Watch out for Burros on the road as you get near Oatman.
