Sitgreaves Pass is the high point on Route 66 between Kingman, Arizona and Needles, California. Along the way, you will see the classic looking gas station at Cool Springs, the seen-better-days Ed's Camp, the living ghost town of Oatman, and miles of incredible scenery along the way. From the top of the pass you can see three states: Arizona, California... More

My husband and I took Route 66 from one end to the other many years ago on our honeymoon and have made the trip from Kingman to Oatman many times since. This section of old Route 66 is still one of my favorites. It doesn't matter which direction you drive (east to west to west to east), the road is... More

We had been planning our Route 66 trip for months......and, I was researching Oatman highway and Sitgreaves pass for that same amount of time. Having just done the Mt Washington Auto Road and developing a fear a heights, I was terrified, to say the least. Our journey began in Massachusetts and we drove to Chicago to drive the "Mother Road"... More

We loved this part of our Route 66 tour! The road is narrow and winds through the mountains - it gives great views and is such classic Route 66! We stopped in Oatman and loved seeing the cute town and roaming burros.

This section of Route 66 and the town of Oatman certainly were one of the most memorable places along a tour of the great parks of the South West. The town appears frozen in time with charming stores and watering holes. But the wild donkeys roaming the streets make this a truly unique experience. We had to go back for... More

It's a great drive and Oatman makes it a perfect side trip or fun destination. The mountain road is fun and I can't say enough about the wild burros and people of Oatman. Go there!

If you are traveling I-40 between Kingman, Arizona and Needles, California, and you have a reliable car and are a competent driver, you owe it to yourself to leave the interstate and take that original stretch of Route 66 that leads over Sitgreaves Pass. The drive (which - be warned - might be intimidating to an inexperienced or uncertain driver),... More

Take the route starting at exit 44 and I-40 and travel west into Oatman. (This is part of OLG Hwy 66) Once you hit the little rock store, the road narrows to pretty much one lane. WATCH FOR ON COMING TRAFFIC. Beautiful drive or ride. We did it on our motorcycles.....awesome!

Made our way from Lake Havasu City via Oatman along the Sitgreaves Pass to Kingman. A very pleasant picturesque drive that we would do again if in the area.
