If you are interested in South Africa's Apartheid past this is a must. We explored it on our own because we found out that by doing it that way we can see and take in so much more. Everthing is so user friendly that anyone should be able to cope without a guide and you will be in charge of... More

Lilliesleaf offers a really well-planned and detailed interactive history of the not so distant past. It was fascinating to learn more, and touching to hear those involved relate their stories, many as they visited the newly opened centre. These were people from both sides, the captors and the captured, all reflecting on what happened on the day of the raid,... More

I went really early in the day since it was high season. We were staying with friends so we got a lift there, but it looks like any visit would have to be by car giving this place is located in a residential setting, but that’s just where it is and can’t be moved so it’s not really any negative... During our time in South Africa we learnt a great deal about the appalling history of the Aparthied years. Visiting the site of the Rivonia Trials increase our knowledge and insight.

Staff provided no direction at all and decided they were going to close at 1 pm so they could go for a Christmas party during business hours. They then locked the doors to the half of the exhibition we hadn't seen at 12.30 and were particularly unsympathetic.... I'm told it's a great exhibition though if that's any consolation.

If you care to follow the ANC history, this is a must! July '62 this is where the white police hit the ANC and communists, this later turned into the Rivonia trials, that send Mandela and friends to Robben Island. A beautiful place, not for children.

Provides a wealth of information about the events leading up to and consequent to the Rivonia Treason Trail and the people involved. Deals not only with the people that planned to overthrow apartheid, but also the members of the security forces, the farm workers, neighbours, legal people involved in the trail, etc. In this way gives a vivid picture of... Anyone interested in South Africa's history, should visit Liliesleaf to discover insightful knowledge and to experience through walking and reading a key time in our history. The place is immaculately maintained, informative and interesting. Various mediums are used to tell the story of Liliesleaf and it does a great job paying homage to the men who were arrested here. Opened just a few years ago, Liliesleaf Farm and Museum is a great place to go if you’re a history buff like me. We stayed for a couple of hours. We were showed a short film about what happened at the site and then taken to a guided tour afterwards. We really enjoyed our visit.
