This is where many members of the ANC were discovered and arrested in the 60's. Very evocative and reflective of an extremely historical part of South African evolution. Very well reconstructed and an enlightening piece of S.A. history.

The farm is not the most popular museum in Joburg; however, when I went, I discovered a hidden and valuable place full of history and outstanding facilities. The farm allows you to walk through the places that changed history. It is definitely a must!

A fantastic museum that is definitely worth seeing, whether you are just visiting Johannesburg, or live here and want to to spend an afternoon out and about. We found the tour to be great value for money. For 60 Rand each we did the self tour, which took us about 2 hours of wandering the grounds in total. The tour... More

This museum is very user friendly and if you opt for the self-guided tour there is ample information. Even the children in our group were kept interested. The audio visual presentations are excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

It tells you about the key role of this farm in, probably, south Africa's most historic series of events. Informative and often captivating.

A very interesting and significant museum that places Lillisleaf farm in the context of the broader liberation struggle in South Africa. For those who do not know the farm is where Mandela was holed up before he was eventually captured by the apartheid police leading to the Rovonia trials.

A very informative site hidden in the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg, safe and worth a visit. Most locals I have talked to have not visited it which is a pity.
