Great building, clean inside & out. Exhibits nicely displayed just dont like stuffed animals, plenty of these! A museum of this stature should have a lot more to offer.Ok to incorporate with other visits in the area. Skipped discovery centre.Entrance fee R20.00 per person. Parking will definitely be an issue on a weekday.

I took my children there last Dec. The place was very dusty and had a mouldy smell. Ok I know it is Natural History Museum but still i think they do not give much attention to it. And parking is also a problem

Now called the Ditsong National Museum of Natural History (changing names of things is all well and good so long as it isn't just because politicians find it hard to make any real difference). Very good collections and displays of African mammals and reptiles and birds and a good geology section, and good annotations, so recommended before a safari. As... More

Great museum, but lack of secure parking is a problem. Had to stop outside the premises and in front of the museum and when we returned, the police was at our car. A couple of men tried to steal the car, but luckily the police was driving by. Had major damage to the door and ignition. Will not ever return... More

Small children might like it but if you've been in thje Natural History Museum in London it looked very small, tame and old-fashioned. Useful for local school kids to learn and it looked like it was being renovated but it could do with some modern ideas about displays. Not really worth the entrance fee.

Transvaal museum is in the middle of hustle & bustle of Pretoria Midcity. Very educational to take the kids there to see all that the Museum can offer. Set aside at least 3h to view everything without hurry. Museum covers a lot of South African history and culture. Worth the pleasant visit.

The Transvaal Museum (Museum of natural history) has a great display of items from fauna, flora to minerals. However this museum has not kept its displays up to date and well maintained for many years. The same items are still on display since I was 6 (22 years ago) and look in a sad state. Otherwise the veune is fantastic,... More
