Visited the National Zoo yesterday. I have to say that it's much better that the Jhb Zoo. Get there early as it gets rather busy. R20 for parking and R85 entrance. You need basically the entire day I.e. 8.30 - 5pm if you plan to see all the animals. Visited the aquarium and reptile park, then visited the bigger animals.... More

We went on a week day and arrived at 9. This is early enough to miss a lot of the school groups but late enough to miss the traffic. Lots of the food kiosks were closed so bring a long some food and snacks (this is allowed). Costs incl. R20 parking and R85 entrance. There is so much to see... More

The Pretoria zoo is a must for any visitor or Pretorianer. The golf carts for rent is really fun and helps rest those legs for an hour. Make sure to stop at the aquarium as well. Parking is often a problem, so plan to go early. Don't leave any valuables in the car.

Having visited the Johannesburg Zoo I was greatly dissapointed with the lack of animals. There were many cages that was empty and their reptile park was non-existant. The cable car was nice although it fwas overpriced. Would rather go to Joburg zoo in the future!!!!

Went today 04/04/2015. Can understand the construction on the animal enclosures but i was really heartsore a the condition of some of the animals. The parrots condition are to say the least, shocking, Feather plucking , stressed out birds. Made me sad, as an african grey owner. The tiger pacing, signs of distress, It just looked and felt like a... More

A friend of mine heard that you could take a night tour at the zoo and on further investigation we found out that small groups could actually camp at the zoo for a night. We arrived at 17:00 and were led though to our camping spot, tents pitched and we were off on the night tour. The zoo is a... More

Very interesting. Possibly the best zoo in africa. They do a lot for keeping an eye on species on the brink of extinsion. Very important to use the zoo parking area as there are all sorts of criminal elements hanging around outside the zoo. That is why one should park inside because it is safe. also try to visit the... Every visit is a great family fun day for old and young. The Pretoria Zoo offers the visitor a wide range of mammals, birds and reptiles to view in a large expanse of park close to the city centre. For those who want a leisurely walk around the numerous enclosures there is plenty to see as you stroll by. If... More
