Lovely place to watch international standard ballets and productions. Plenty of safe underground parking but getting there is not great. I tend to visit other theatres when shows are late at night. Still has the good old "theatre" feel!

Situated in the Pretoria CBD the venue is still classy and you should enjoy your visit in the knowledge that you car is safe in the underground parking where there are ample guards on duty. On this particular visit we enjoyed a top class ballet performance but over the years we have been in the audience from pop concerts to... More

Say what you want, maybe I remain bias (the musician in me) but no movie, cinema or TV could ever compare to the magical feeling of dressing up for the show, the elaborate and dazzling costumes hidden by only the curtains, a cast of dancers and actors waiting to entertain while the orchestra plays the music patiently wading the crowd... The show AMABAZO MUSICAL is an excellent performance. Storytelling of the history of freedom of South Africa through dance and music as it is reflected by the professional pathway of this music group (awarded with 3 Grammies) that has been boosted by Paul Simon. Since then this group became the musical companion of Nelson Mandela

I am living in PTA for half a year and was the first time visiting that part of the city! We drove with my family of 3 kids and my parents at 8 pm and watched LEO who by the way was fantastic, innovative and full of good humour and imagination! The show should have been more advertised I think...... More

Once the 'place to be seen' is now just another facility that is sub-standard in the heart of the city. Situated around a rather shady part of Pretoria town, with little or no restaurant facilities in the area.

Been there a few times. Secure parking and always nice to be treated like you are someone special by the attendants in the car park and in the elevators. Use the parking lot - do not park in the streets outside. One needs to get a dose of culture every now and again. the shows are awesome and normally not... More

The shows at the State Theatre is of excellent quality, and mostly very affordable. Parking is safe and convenient. There is a wide variety of shows on offer, catering for diverse tastes. I find the matinees are usually excellent value. The audience is very loyal, and shows are often fully booked.

I have been here once when I was a little girl seeing a ballet. Things might have changed by now but it was really a good theatre. I can only remmember good things about it. Since it is Pretoria, I highly suggest you park your car inside a parking lot and not on the streets!
