We had to be invited to this place as we probably would never have looked at it should we have been left to our own devices. The reserve is teaming with wildlife and has wildebees, antelope, hippos, a variety of bird life and scores of other game including leopard. It is really a surpising little? reserve and from what we... More

There is no faulting this nature reserve, from the welcome on entry until the last point of exit. The roads are in good order and well maintained, the game is easily visible. The picnic site and facilities are excellent and best of all, the coffee shop, hidden inside the reserve is possibly one of the best in Pretoria in terms... More

Relax next to the dam for a picnic or simply do a self drive through the Nature Reserve to view the game being kept. Then stop at the restaurant for a snack or drink and maybe you'll be lucky to see the rhino's grazing on the side.

Great day trip to enjoy the nature we are so lucky to have in South Africa. The lion tour is a must-see! We went on a Friday morning at 11am where they feed the lions (Pictures attached). Our guide, Magel, gave us some incredible insight about the lions and reserve. A lovely educational experience. We also saw Zebra, Rhino, Ostrich... More

This place was really great! It's perfect for those who just want to relax and get away from the city! I went there with my boyfriend and we sat in front of the dam and we had a lovely picnic.

This was so much more than I'd expected! Just off the highway between O R Tambo airport and Pretoria this nature reserve + dam afforded hours of pleasure at an incredibly good price. In a small hire car, I followed the tarred routes through the reserve (there are dirt roads for more intrepid explorers). I was delighted to see ostriches,... More

We were spoiled to see Rhino where no other cars were. Plenty birdlife and animals. Went to the coffee shop and found Two rhino moms with their tiny babies. Our son was in his element! Will be back as soon as possible. Really enjoyable

We last visited Rietvlei about 3 years ago. On Sunday we tried it again, we saw 8 Rhino, many species of buck, nice grass veldt birds and thoroughly enjoyed our day. The management really seem to be involved, the hides are clean and we'll maintained, the roads we'll kept and they now have a tea garden which was really nice... More
