On a whim we drove to the reserve, and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. I didn't expect as much variety as we found - buffalo, zebra and a close encounter with one of the many rhinos on the reserve. Not to mention the variety of birds and gazelle. The roads are in excellent condition (kind... More

Perfect family trip... Love feeding the fish from the bird view. Picnic and braai facilities bathroom very well kept. A day of self drive safari with a picnic ending with a glass of wine while sun sets. Bring your umbrella and blankets and have a family fun day...

I am privileged to be able to visit this nature reserve on a very regular basis. It is well managed and the facilities are top notch. Game viewing is plentiful and the bird life is amazing. Do yourself a favour and tale time out to visit this special place. It is well worth it. Please abide by the rules and... More

Beautiful scenic route and our new favourite place to be. Perfect for a days' outing and not even far to drive.

Just 5 minutes from my home, near Centurion, Rietvallei (valley of reeds) game preserve is a must visit destination. A large variety of wild including zebra, buck, wildebeest, rhino and a recently added lions in a predator enclosure. Well worth the visit!

Brisk morning air, hardly any visitors at this early time. Many waterbirds fanning and stretching on the dead tree branches in the dam; the air filled with small birds searching for breakfast. What a peaceful setting!

This is a lovely spot to spend a few hours or even a day. The picnic area next to the dam is always spotless, and if you are lucky a hippo or two may entertain you during lunch. The bird life is prolific and we have never failed to see several rhino and many antelope species. The little creatures pop... More

As a family we have been visiting Rietvlei for many, many years and it has never failed to please. It is an inexpensive outing to a lovely reserve where you can spend quite a few tranquil hours bird and animal watching. There is now a very nice food and drink stop at the "farmhouse" which became a very welcome addition... More

This not the place to be. False advertising, there are no cheehtas no buffilo, u have to pay to see the lions seperatly from the rest of the wild. Very desapointed with this place not wild life at all.
