it is a bush within the City. I think a less known area, the damn though the water is not as clean as one would have like but the birds and animal species are a nature wonder. Priced at less than R100 per person, the family outing is possible. The bird viewing areas, picnic spots and fishing, Rhino and Lion... More

We drove around on excellent roads and completely forgot that the city was just around the corner. We saw many animals, birds and beautiful wild flowers. Although it was a Sunday, it was not very busy. The picnic area was crowded, though, so we avoided it. The dam offered wonderful photo opportunities. It is a wonderful way of escaping the... More

Just on the outskirts of Pretoria is this lovely little Game Farm. We went for a picnic at the day visitors area and it was amazing. It was early already pretty busy and full but we got a spot under the trees with a braai right next to the dam with grunting hippos. The ablutions were clean and taps and... More

We visited the nature reserve with friends and were very disappointed with the experience. I'm shocked to see so many amazing pictures of wild life posted by traveller's as I did not see much wild life at all and we spent several hours on the reserve just trying to hold out "in case we miss the animals"....with not much luck.... On a whim we drove to the reserve, and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. I didn't expect as much variety as we found - buffalo, zebra and a close encounter with one of the many rhinos on the reserve. Not to mention the variety of birds and gazelle. The roads are in excellent condition (kind... More

Perfect family trip... Love feeding the fish from the bird view. Picnic and braai facilities bathroom very well kept. A day of self drive safari with a picnic ending with a glass of wine while sun sets. Bring your umbrella and blankets and have a family fun day...

Beautiful scenic route and our new favourite place to be. Perfect for a days' outing and not even far to drive.

Just 5 minutes from my home, near Centurion, Rietvallei (valley of reeds) game preserve is a must visit destination. A large variety of wild including zebra, buck, wildebeest, rhino and a recently added lions in a predator enclosure. Well worth the visit!
