This nature reserve is situated just off Nelmapius road running through Irene..the best place to enter is to go towards the Delmas road..as soon as you crossed the traffic lights on the end of Nelmapius road, you will find a gate entrance on your right..you pay R45 per person, children and pensioners are cheaper, at the gate (make sure to... What a lovely place to go and chill out, See some game and enjoy the Highveld scenery. We enjoyed the visit to the quaint little coffee shop. and a picnic near the the dam. If you are lucky you may even spot the Cheeta. A great outing for a family that loves nature and the outdoors.

Rietvlei Dam Nature Reserve is well worth of visit. Great location for avid birders, saw many birds that we do not get to see in the city. Game was plentiful in various areas of the reserve. We did not get to see the Buffalo or the Cheetah, so will have to go back and try again. Entrance fee is very... More

Rietvlei offers the benefits of a game farm on a small scale and just outside the borders of the hustle and the bustle. Rietvleidam is brilliant for picnics - you could even have a braai. On the way in see if you can spot the rhino and many of the other game. 100% child friendly.

This is the most wonderful and well groomed nature reserve ever visited with real good service. The night drives cater for groups of 10-12 and was a real experience to go with my wife on one of them. Firewood and blankets are supplied and we snuggled happily next to the fire while listening to the game roaring in the night... More

We have visited Rietvlei 3 times in one year to take visitors. We have done 2 lion tours which can be hit and miss - try to get a feeding tour at 11am (why do they not put this info on their website?). The second visit we hardly saw anything on our self-drive game drive around the reserve, but the... More

Lovely place to get away from the city hustle and bustle. Parking on "popular" holidays and weekends tend to leave you stranded - but all the more + points for keeping the facility in it's natural state. Join the Facebook page
