It is always a pleasure to visit Irene Market. The ambience is warm and friendly. Musicians doing their own thing in the background. The available crafts are unique and original. Always something different. The crafters are eager to assist you (without overwhelming you). A nice tea garden. First Saturday and last Saturday of each month until 14:00.

A wide variety of everything you can think of plus lots to eat, including traditional SA food like 'pannekoek'. Also place to just sit and enjoy the outdoors.

Took the family to the Market and was pleasantly surprised at the variety of options available. Excellent arts and crafts and wide variety of food stalls made for an enjoyable morning and certainly worth the drive from Joburg. Will definately go again.

After an absence of a couple of years, I took my visiting family to the market in Feb 2015. It is as charming as ever in its lovely country setting. I think we were lucky to drive straight in with no traffic congestion, which is what always put us off in the past couple of years. The food court area... More

My wife and I visited this market on first weekend in February. We had read about this market on several occasions but had always found a reason not to go. We live in Johannesburg and the thought of driving to Irene simply appalled us. That said - the actual drive took us less than 40 minutes. There was a fair... More

We always visit this market during the festive season and make it a days outing together wth the famous dairy farm nearby. We usually make a beeline for the food section near the entrance and enjoy lunch there from the numerous vendors catering for various tastes form snacks, treats to proper meals. There are so many creative craftsy folk here... More

I really enjoy visiting this market every time I go to South Africa. It's full of locally produced arts, craft and food and the atmosphere is just so good. If you're in the area don't miss it, but be sure to get there quite early otherwise parking can be quite difficult. Some history here too - the home of the... More

Held in the grounds of Smuts House, which in itself is a salute to a great man and his wife, Ouma Smuts. Every year when visiting South Africa, this is a must for me so make sure to be there on either the second or last Saturday of the month. The sun shines through the trees making the wandering through... More
