Plan to spend a day at this museum because there is so much to take in. You will get the full story and you will be moved by it. Very efficient layout and presentation of the exhibits. I particularly liked the Mandela exhibit. What an amazing man. The Apartheid Museum is a must see when in Jozi. more

Don't be put off by its odd location - the museum shares an entrance with a gold themed amusement park- the apartheid Museum is an absolute must see while in Joburg. The architectural layout alone makes the visit worthwhile. The story of one of the most tragic episodes in modern history is very compelling. Watching a video of the former... more

It records the history of apartheid graphically mainly through photos but with some real exhibits and is ver y atmospherical as well. It conjures up the past and defines how successful the ANC supported by independents and the world were in breaking the apartheid government. Whether you come to Johannesburg from near or far you shouldn't leave the town without a visit to the Apartheid Museum. The design and exhibits will make you think.
