Lovely park, great place to go for a run

The gardens are beautiful as is the small lake and the rose garden. This is a perfect place for a quiet, safe walk or run, very scenic.

We visit this park at least twice a month if possible. My dog (a Dacshund) loves to stroll in these spacious well kept gardens. The park is exceptionally well tended and maintained. Dogs of all breeds walk with their families "off leash" and the incredible friendliness of dogs and owners alike is exceptional. The sound of friendly, barking dogs swimming... More

We are a retired group of hikers, who travel around Joburg, doing a hike and spending some time at new locations. We have walked in the Botanic Gardens on a number of occasions, and every time have come away, with the feeling that this is a real jewel. The gardens are always absolutely immaculate, and at this time of the year especially beautiful. The walk up the side... Beautiful setting. Quiet (as opposed to noisy) for such a public place. Visited last sunday to see the magnificent succulent exhibition and it was for free. More a park with grass and trees than a botanical garden but ideal for a walk, taking kids and dogs along, or for a picnic. The restaurant could be a pitstop for cold drinks,... More

This place has so much potential, needs more decent food stalls, restaurant was appalling so give that a skip for sure. Ok for a walk in the park, steer clear of the quieter pathways though.

The gardens have been created and maintained with great care and detail! It is really a beautiful place to walk around and spend the afternoon, there are so many different tracks and routes you can be there for hours! Next to the waterfall, you can also head up some stairs, for a hike that took us just over an hour.... More

A very big parklike area. My dogs also love going there. Like: Many interesting and varied like routes to walk. Dogs may accompany you - remember the poo bag though! Seating dotted throughout should you need a rest. Peaceful. Dislike: Toilets facilits very bad and too few (sorry for humans!). Some people do not adhere to rules to pick up... More

The park is divided in two sections one for people who don't like dogs and one for people who do. If you are looking for a place to entertain your pooch - Emmarensia is the place to be. Animals that is not well socialised should best be kept on a leash but if they love other doggies - run Forset... More

So a while ago me and my ex went to the park we had a great time but the trouble came when the parks security came up to us refused to let us leave saying that we were having sex in the park? WHICH WE WERE NOT!!! They harassed us and threatened us saying that they were going to call... More

This botanical garden is not high on flower beds and is more like a park with lawns, specimen trees, a waterfall and a long wild hillside for lengthy walks. The climb up the side of the waterfall was steep but there is an exposed bench seat at the top for a rest in the sun. It can be and was... More
