I always take the Gautrain when I visit South Africa. It is a great experience and a short walk from the airport terminal. Would be great to see the train extended to other parts of Johannesburg. Great to see that the government is investing in infrastructure, next thing is to sort out the power outages!

I have traveled from Johannesburg to Pretoria countless number of times, my first experience was via metro rail I was doing my SAQA, it was a long trip but exciting, but I never used it again, time they say is money, I switched to buses(countless trips), but in January 2015 I recollect going for interview at the Home Affairs, I was... Everything is so right about this train. The difference between the traffic outside Sandton Station and the quiet first class travel to OR Tambo says it all. You know you are going to get to the airport in 15 minutes, whereas it could take an hour or more to drive there. It may cost quite a bit but there is... More

From the moment one steps on to the premises of Gautrain one enters a different world. It is clean, fastidiously so, safe, and well lit with trains coming regularly. There may be a wait but it is worthwhile. No other form of traffic or transport will get one to a destination as fast as Gautrain. Some say it is expensive.... More

The Gautrain was a perfect way to slip into the city (Rosebank) when we had several hours between flights. Only drawback--quite costly?!

The Gautrain is a world class transportation system that connects key locations in Johannesburg. A typical car drive from the OR Tambo International Airport to Sandton would take anywhere between 40 -60 minutes. The Gautrain does this in 15 minutes! The Gautrain buses are also super efficient and allows the traveller the option of travelling of using a bus from... More

The Gautrain is really excellent, I use it very often when travelling to OR Tambo for business or leisure trips. It has always been on time and the fare is not expensive at all (taxis or transfer services are three to four times more expensive). It is really very fast and very comfortable, and of course very safe. Everything is... More

It wont get you to the nooks and crannies of Gauteng, but it is an excellent way to traverse for both locals on their daily commute and for tourists. It will never match systems like the London Underground (by virtue of the geographical characteristics of Gauteng) but the reach is far and wide thanks to the in-house connected bus service.

Surly and uninformed security staff in the parkade. A return trip from Sandton to Pretoria and back R245.00 - absolute rip off. I will take my car next time.
