I only had two days for an animal safari during my first trip to South Africa before I had to travel to Cape Town for a work-related conference. I couldn't have chosen better than I did with Ekala. The two day animal safari in Pilanesberg Park was terrific, but the time spent with Malcolm, Janet, and Linda are what made... More

We learnt more in a weekend touring Pretoria and Johannesburg with Malcolm than we could ever have imagined. What we thought may be a regular sight seeing tour turned out to be an insightful, detailed and intellectual tutorial spanning the history and culture of SA from Voortrekker to Mandela, and even Pistorius and just about everything in between. Thanks, Malcolm,... More

My wife and I went on four tours with Ekala and stayed at their guest house for four nights. We had a fantastic time. Malcolm and Janet are experts on the area, having lived there all of their lives. They are very knowledgeable about the history and sites of Johannesburg and really know the animals and birds in the parks... More

My friend and I spent 1.5 days with Ekala and what a wonderful experience! The knowledge that Janet and Malcolm have is quite impressive. We were shown the city and given the history behind the buildings and events that occurred in Johannesburg. The love of the area that they have is quite apparent. Their suggestion of the DeWildt Cheetah Sanctuary... More

We were very lucky to have our airline change flights, causing us to be in Johannesburg for 2 nights at the start of our safari. This gave us the opportunity to do a tour of Johannesburg and the Cradle of Humankind. On our way home we also had a day layover in Johannesburg which allowed us to visit Soweto and... More

I spent four days with Ekala Tours during my recent visit to South Africa. Two of the days were in the company of Janet, the balance, Malcolm was my guide. Each of the days provided very different experiences, ranging from a visit to SOWETO, Constitution Hill and the Apartheid Museum, to walking with Lions, to visiting Maropeng and Sterkfontein Caves,... Malcolm met us at the airport and hosted two days of tours, allowing us to see everything we really wanted to see in Johannesburg area in two short days. What made the experience special was his knowledge of, and passion and love for his country. He also included stops we might not have thought of on our own. We loved... More

Better late than never...my boyfriend and I booked 2 tours with Ekala where Janet was our guide for both days in May 2014. For the first tour, it was a full day Johannesburg tour which incorporated SOWETO as well. On the second day, we combined Ukutula and the Elephant Sanctuary. Janet provided us with so much information and insight into... More

We feel so lucky to have met Malcolm, our tour guide for the half-day we had in Johannesburg. If anything, he made us wish we'd spent much more time in this interesting, historic city! Malcolm picked us up at the airport and spent five hours driving us around town and showing us as many highlights as he could before sundown... More

This is our first visit to South Africa, and of course also the first to Johannesburg. It was such a wonderful trip. It completely changed our impression of South Africa. We went on private tour with Ekala Eco Tours. We were accompanied by Janet. She was so marvelous and friendly. She was good at driving and knew the directions very... More
