Thew museum has a mixture of things, including geological exhibits and stuffed wild animals. The most interesting parts are a series of reconstructions of daily lie in history and of the political history of the city. This is where the African National Congress was founded.

We liked the whole experience the first floor was well laid out and the second was just fantastic. Remade a town which was just like walking back in town. A tremendous amount of animals and all well set out.

I Really enjoy going here every time!! One sees the bigger picture of of our planet compared to others, the dinosaurs that walked the earth, the history of our country and all the amazing animals in South Africa are very realistically displayed! Entry fee is about R5... Really.... Just go and see it already!!

The recreated historical street scenes brought local history to life & children would really enjoy the animal sections.

Kids loved all the animal displays and the little historic town recreation. Also, recreations of cave drawings. Nice man at the front desk. We just missed a school group so it was very quiet. The gift shop has some nice toys and gifts for reasonable prices. Well worth a stop here. Easy to find, right in town.

A must see to understand the African culture in South-Africa but also to understand the history of Bloemfontein itself. The new exhibit on the history of the townships is amazing. The approach is very modern without losing the authenticity of the shared stories and pain. This exhibit was co-funded by Belgian government and co-created by students and professors of a... More

If you thought you knew or understood the history of South Africa this will surprise you. This is a must see for visitors to South Africa and don't let people tell you there's nothing to see in Bloemfontein. It's a wonderful city and a great place to base yourself for wider trips into Free State.
