Old dirty monument situated in a busy part of town. Lots of bums use this as a hangout. Dirty water in the fountain. Avoid.

The square recently had a major cleanup and is now worth visiting. This is one of the rare well designed public spaces in Bloemfontein. It lies next to the historically significant President Brand street and enhances the surrounds of the Blemfontein city hall , Court of Appeals and parliament sensitively.

Were last here during '90's and visited again. The place is littered and filthy. The ponds are a health hazard and a disgrace. It seems that some bums have made it their home as there were quite a few around hassling us for money. Never again.

As I grew up in Bloem and visited the CBD so many times as a child and student the square is in bad bad bad condition and not worth a visit.

I stumbled across Hertzog Square when I was walking down to the National Museum, and I thought it was a great spot to hang out, relax or have a picnic. It is a medium size park with lovely big trees and heaps of nice shady spots, surounded by a brick pathway. In the centre is a pretty grubby pool, with... More
