The view of the city from Naval Hill is really great - remember to pack your camera. A guide to point out the main attractions and places of interest from the top would be nice. But it's still worth a visit.

Hope they turn the Mandela statue and restaurant into something good. Statue doesn't look much like Mandela but does the trick.

Good way to spend an afternoon! You can visit the Mandela statue, have a drive around the reserve and visit the planetarium on show days.

This is the best place to get a great view of the city. Especially at sunset, which are spectacular. Great photo opportunity.

Naval hill is a game reserve in the outer region of Bloemfontein. Through some curvy roads you can make your way up the hill. Make sure to stop once in a while to enjoy the view on each side of the hill. You can see the cooling towers of the power plant, the two university's, up- and downtown, and the... More

Pity that this facility is not cared for. I often take a drive around here and each time I am more disappointed. This is something unique - but it is not cared for. A huge pity.

A random experience in the city of roses. Have a casual Sunday drive up and pretend you are in the Kruger Park. Giraffe, wildebeest, zebra and several deer species to be seen. Added bonus of the new viewing decks over Bloemfontein and the statue of Mandela. Wonder when the new restaurant will finally be open!

There is not much you can do in Bloemfontein regarding tourist attractions, so if you are there I would recommend going to Naval Hill. Entrance is free. Nice to enjoy some take aways over a sunset.

When in Bloemfontein, take the time to drive up to Naval Hill in the winter of summer, an hour before sunset. The Free state sky will be spectacular, guarenteed! Bring a picnic and enjoy the views from here. Under the larger than life statue of our Madiba! And take a picutre holding his hnad!

I visited Naval Hill frequently during 1988 and 1989..running among wild animals was cool! Now the same still applies but with a stunning lookout over the City of Roses with a massive statue of Madiba for company! Well kept...tidy....all good.
