We drove up Naval Hill this morrning anticipating great views & some signs of the history attached to the area. Disappointingly all 9 viewpoints were badly signposted & maintained. The bushes everywhere have been allowed to grow unchecked so the views are obstructed. Also, there are no notices explaining where each viewpoint is overlooking. We drove up to an area... More

Naval Hill is a fast growing tourists attraction of distinction in Bloemfontein. Although still under development, there are certain things that make it stand out. The altitude: The change of altitude as you drive/cycle/run/walk up the slope of the mountain is an experience worth going through. Once you have ascended the Hill the freshness of air fills your lungs and... More

This is the only National Park situated within City limits. You can drive, cycle, run or walk all he way around the reserve. There are numerous animals to be seen, including Girafe, Zebra, Ostrich & numerous other types of Buck. Geocachers will love this reserve as there are plenty 'Caches hidden around the reserve.

Overall, the site leaves a good impression. It is nicely constructed and well maintained. You can see all of Bloemfontein spread out below from various lookout platfroms, but unfortunately Bloemfontein is not a particularly inspiring sight.

The view of the city from Naval Hill is really great - remember to pack your camera. A guide to point out the main attractions and places of interest from the top would be nice. But it's still worth a visit.

Hope they turn the Mandela statue and restaurant into something good. Statue doesn't look much like Mandela but does the trick.

Good way to spend an afternoon! You can visit the Mandela statue, have a drive around the reserve and visit the planetarium on show days.

This is the best place to get a great view of the city. Especially at sunset, which are spectacular. Great photo opportunity.

Naval hill is a game reserve in the outer region of Bloemfontein. Through some curvy roads you can make your way up the hill. Make sure to stop once in a while to enjoy the view on each side of the hill. You can see the cooling towers of the power plant, the two university's, up- and downtown, and the... More
