Best decision ever not to stay too close to Phoenix, but take a 50 min ride from our hotel to get here! Our young daughter and husband and I had a private trail ride with Spur Cross Stables. Our guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable. The 90 min was very peaceful and we could take everything... More

My husband and I were visiting Arizona in November 2011, and having a fantastic time. We had been told that a Sunset or Sunrise desert horseback ride was a must. Booked with Spur Cross Stables and turned up with one other couple for the Sunset ride. Now I accept that it was off season but frankly it was very slapdash.... More

Went on the one hour ride with my two daughters; great experience. The horses were made for the trails; started and stopped with the rest of the team, and they did not wander from the trail, as we've experienced on other rides. Ride goes up and down hills, mostly gentle, one steep. Horses were surefooted throughout. Friendly guides and reception.... More

Just north of the Stables/Ranch are hiking trailheads. A gravel road fit for a SUV leads past Spur Cross Ranch to another parking lot. Paths are rocky, so wear good hiking shoes and bring along hiking sticks, if you have them. Drinking water essential. Hats recommended. Dogs are allowed. Good signage. Petroglyphs, at least one cave, and a long-ago abandoned... More

Our kids' (8 and 10) first time on a horse so they recommended we only do the 1 hour ride. The scenery was beautiful - on some parts just cactus and mountains as far as the eye could see. Our tour guide wasn't from the area (I think he was from Montana) and personally we would have enjoyed some more... More

Just north of Phoenix on a gravel/dirt road just a little ways into the Sonoran desert you'll find Spur Cross Stables. A great staff that was extremely friendly. Beautiful trails winding through the hills with plenty of pictures to be taken. Our guide was very informative on the history and landmarks found along the trail and even took our group... More

Unfortunately, my sister fell ill and we weren't able to actually get on a horse. However, the staff was terriffic and had a great ride planned out for us. This is an adventure not to be missed. More

What a charming ranch filled with lovely REAL people who actually take care if the ranch and its animals. My husband and I went on a sunset ride with their guide Ed and it was fabulous. We always sign up for horseback riding everywhere we go, and these horses had to be the most well behaved and well nourished we... More

We booked the 90 minute ride, since prior trail riding experiences (at another place in Phoenix, and one in Tucson) left us wanting more. We got more here! Rather than riding along a flat desert trail, we were in a rather large group (about 7 or 8) going up (and down) narrow trails into the mountains. Our guide was very... More

I use to ride when I was younger so I know a little about a horse - but I think you are in for a treat here even if you know nothing... I really had a nice ride. My guide was a really good guy and the horses had bee well kept and well trained. I absolutely recommend it if... More
