We came for the cave but the ranger suggested the extra drive. Well worth it! Gorgeous views though a bit scary on the turns at times. If you get this far, you need to finish it with the hike up to the peak. Again, great views! BTW, make sure you try on the conquistador helmet, mail, and sword that's in... More

The .5 miles is well worth taking to get to the crest of Coronado Peak, and the scenic drive up to the trailhead is almost as neat as the crest itself. The park has done a great job with trail markers and historical plaques commemorating Coronado's expedition. Be aware, however, that pets are not allowed on the trails of the... More
