Wonderful up close encounter with bears. Went with Alaska Charters and Adventures which offered a very personal experience rather than the larger charter boats. Brenda Schwartz Yeager knows all about the bears and their habitat. She is most knowledgeable and experienced. The black bears were hungry! and we did get to see several brown bears with cubs. Highly recommended!!

I arrived in Wrangell on the ferry. I was aware of some tours that leave out of Wrangell but I did not have any reservations for any tours, so I went to the area of town where most of the tours out of Wrangell leave from, which is a short walk from the ferry terminal, near the Stikine Inn. I... More

We were very fortunate to book this the day of the tour due to ferry changes. The office sales person, sorry can't remember her name, at Alaskan Waters, Inc worked very hard to make the tour happen, many thanks. The day was wonderful spotting approximately 6 to 7 black bears and one cub. Also saw brown bear sow and three... More

Fantastic afternoon. We saw black bears fishing and a mama grizzly with 4 cubs! The guides from Alaska Waters were so knowledgable. We really enjoyed their bear stories!

This trip will blow your mind! Get your camera out because you will be close enough to a bear that you could practically pet it!! Most amazing thing I've ever seen!!

If you want to see bears and eagles up close ... go to the AnAn observatory. We have been there twice on an Alaska Waters excursion and found the experience to be top notch both times.

Excellent place to see bears feeding, there are all bears mentioned above, not in the same exact place but not far from each other, rare to find. Great place to get great photos or just sit and observe. Plus I saw an Eagle land on the water and 'paddle' to shore with his wings.

Fabulous trip. Exciting. Best trip of cruise. Scary at first because guides have guns. But trip is educational and thrilling. I don't think small children should go. They might call attention to themselves. That would not be a great idea. We were told not to look bears in the eyes or make loud or sudden movements. I could see why!

What a fantastic experience. Bears come within metres off the observation deck. Lots of time to check out the Bears and Eagles. Great observation decks on two levels allows for maximum viewing. Alaska Waters were great guides with lots of information to be had and they were friendly.

If you want to see bears and their cubs catching salmon and eating them, then this is the place. The wooden observatory sits next to a creek where bears fish. There are many bald eagles in the nearby trees hanging over the creek. It is a bit of a walk to get to the observation platform. You walk on a... More
