This was the highlight of our July 2008 vacation! We took Phillips Cruises for this tour. The scenery is breathtaking, and we had the opportunity to view plenty of wildlife. We cannot say enough about how great the cruise is, as well as the people on board. The crew was very informative and entertaining. We had some diet restrictions with one of the children and everyone bent over backwards to get the information we needed. The cruise itself is very smooth and the boat clean and modern. Our cruise with Phillips (26glaciers.com) took place on May 24 Saturday. The weather was rainy with lots of fog and cloud. Your experience would vary greatly with weather. Just 5 days before we took the Kenai Fjord boat tour and it was abnormally sunny with no clouds in sight. It was a fabulous trip which I would gladly pay double... more

We drove across from Seward to do a glacier cruise out of Whittier. Watch your timing as the tunnel is one way and shared with trains so you could miss the boat if you do not leave plenty of time. Based on a tripadvisor recommendation, I booked the 26 Glacier Cruise as an afterthought when no rental cars were available. You can't get close to a glacier unless you venture out of Anchorage, and their Web site (...) made it easy to book a ride from downtown Anchorage to the Port of Whittier to board the boat.
