Description:

Major Marine Tours offers two thrilling day cruises into Prince William...

Major Marine Tours offers two thrilling day cruises into Prince William Sound, and the grandeur of its ever-changing glaciers. Choose between the 5.25 hour Surprise Glacier Cruise and the 4.5 hour Blackstone Glacier Cruise. All trips are hosted by a Chugach National Forest Ranger. At the glaciers you'll often witness calving - a process by which glaciers shed giant blocks of ancient ice. This area is also home to a wide variety of animals including sea lions, seals, sea otters, and mountain goats; as well as an abundance of bird rookeries with many species including eagles and kittywakes. You can enhance your experience with our Alaska salmon and prime rib buffet, freshly prepared on board the vessel. All guests are guaranteed reserved seating inside our heated cabins.

This cruise of Prince William Sound is from 12:15 pm-5:30 pm. The late start is to allow people arriving by train from Anchorage to participate. The cruise my husband and I picked was the Surprise Glacier cruise which visits an active tidewater glacier. The scenery was incredible. More wildlife than we expected. Narrated by a Chugach National Forest Ranger. There... More

The boat cruise was enjoyable. We saw a lot of otters. The boat stopped for the first 3 so we could get pictures but when we went by a 'raft' of about 50 otters, I wish the captain would have stopped. We saw quite a few glaciers and the crew was good about taking our photos in front of them... More

This tour was more than we could have asked for. It was awe inspiring from the start of the tour to the very end, climaxed by the majestic glaciers up close. We were blessed with great weather for an awesome experience at the Prince William Sound. The glaciers were just breathless and the waterfalls were just fantastic! The crew were... More

This tour was more than we could ever imagine. Even though the day was rainy and dreary - this tour was still terrific! Glaciers and waterfalls were in abundance! Everyone was very helpful and friendly and our meal was fantastic! We learned a lot from the ranger and our captain was very informative as well. We give this tour a... More

As we were not doing the longer Alaskan cruise, this seemed our best shot at seeing some glaciers. We did the trip on a fairly chilly summer(!) day. We had a rental car, so we drove from Anchorage to Whittier (taking in to account the tunnel timing). We were a group of 3 (with one toddler), and we were seated... More

Terrific boat ride. Take a good camera. there is so much to see. Wildlife, mountains, glaciers. The crew is great. The wildlife expert knows so much about the land and animals around the Sound. Take a jacket, it gets breezy.

Great cruise for the price, however if you want to see the largest glacier it would be on another cruise.

We booked this cruise and train ride from Anchorage so we could see another area of Alaska, since we weren't doing the traditional Alaskan cruise vacation. We saw tons of glaciers, sea otters, sea lions basking in the sun, ptarmigans, and a glacier calved while we watched (and heard!). The buffet was delicious, but the glacier margarita was something you'll... More
