I think that the whole place has a lack of space.. The fact that it's in the main island is good, because you don't need sea tranfer. There are other beaches in Bora Bora with better view.

Amazing beach we ever see. the water is light green and clear. It is only beach that is free to access in the Bora Bora. We were down there via cruise tour. It is one of cheapest option to explore Tahiti region.

Not a very busy beach, at least it wasn't when we were there. We walked there from our resort just to visit and look at more of the beauty of the island :) there are a few beach restaraunts to eat for good prices.

This is, I believe, the ONLY public beach on Bora Bora. We went here one afternoon to relax and snorkel for a bit. The snorkeling towards the old Hotel Bora Bora (don't go on the property, you'll get kicked off) was decent but I didn't find the beach to be very peaceful at all. It was definitely a clean beach... We are staying at Le Moana Resort, just across from this beach, where the Trade Winds are constantly blowing, (now in July) and this beach has no wind at all. It is a public beach and is kept clean and tidy by the local council workers. The water is only about a metre deep, for as far as you can... More

The place to go within walking distance form the intercontinental, the Mai Tai and the Sofitel hotels. Right on the beach there is a small bar/restaurant with a few tables on the deck and a couple of long tables and benches on the beach where an old lady prepares your food however you like it. It's not fancy at all;... More

Matira beach is one of my most favorite places ever. It is a nice long beach and never seems crowded. Closer to the point it is white sand and miles of shallow lagoon perfect for wading, while a bit north there is great snorkeling with a nice coral garden and a deep trench with big fish and lots of coral.... If you want to see the sunset you have to go to the public beach. Not crowded during our stay and it was nice to see some locals. Good place to walk.
