We were staying at Denali Fireside Lodge which is the departure point for this excursion. Our family has a 14 year old boy and 19 and 22 year old girls. Dennis first made sure we could all handle the ATVs by having us ride around the parking lot. These were brand new machines and they were very easy to maneuver.... More

My husband and I had the fine pleasure of meeting Dennis during our stay here in Talkeetna. We have done quite a bit since getting to Alaska, including flightseeing, whale watching cruises, and this is honestly the best tour we have done. Dennis is a wonderful historian and his stories were so interesting. You learn about the town, it's history... More

This has to be the BEST thing in Talkeetna if not in the whole Denali area. My wife and I were on our Honeymoon and Dennis made us feel like we were old friends. We learned so much about how people "really" live in Alaska and the history and culture. We did almost everything you can do in Talkeetna and... More

I was very fortunate to meet Dennis DeVore and spent 6 hours with this fine Gentleman. Dennis gave a Great tour filled with a local history you wont get anywhere else to include a look back into his past as a young boy homesteading in Alaska. He shared his personal life in a way you would expect from a long... More

Dennis will be remembered as one of the main highlights of our entire Alaskan vacation. The ATV trails along the railroad tracks and deep into the woods were great fun of course. However, the highlight was arriving at Dennis' homestead way back in the woods. What an amazing experience our two 13 years boys had panning for gold. Dennis was... More

This is a wonderful ATV tour from Talkeetna to those that live off the grid in Alaska, led by Dennis, a real Alaskan not short of opinion nor personality, both equally fascinating, & his wonderful dog, Cheena. This was my first time on an ATV, my first time shooting a gun (much less an elephant gun modified to handle a... More

We saw the ATVs but no one was home. Checked and were told he (Dennis) was on a tour and to check back. We almost chose something else but husband and son really wanted to do the ATV tour so we waited. Glad we did because when Dennis finally returned, we were ready. It also started pouring rain at that... More

Our ATV -ing around the wilderness was a great. Dennis entertained us with his many tales of the area. How he and his family homesteaded in the Fifties, the hardships, and how he and his siblings survived. We panned for gold and did some target practice with his bear gun. Ending with a lunch at his cabin in the wilderness. A... More

To get the REAL feel of Alaska you must do this trip. Dennis and his family homesteaded here in 1959. Basically drove from MI, put their belongings on a train, jumped off in the proverbial middle of nowhere and started a life. Can you imagine what it would be like to be in the wilderness with your family and ONLY... More

Our ATV 4 wheeler experience with Dennis was so much more than we expected......because of Dennis. Although driving the ATV was fun, what really made the experience exceptional was Dennis' storytelling about his family's homesteading experience, his home hospitality where he served lunch, the opportunity to pan for gold in the creek behind his home in the wilderness, the opportunity...
