The whole Theme Park is very odd, lots of Russians cutting around - some very very beautiful! There are military vehicles, kids rides, water rides, shows and the carrier. The shows are actually very good and totally worth seeing. The carrier is fascinating, I really enjoyed walking around it especially the nuclear missile magazines and small aircraft hanger. It's not... More

During my last week in China in February 2012 (I've tagged the date as 03/14 because this is earliest it would allow) we went out for a drive and my partner took me here because of my military background. First impressions as you leave the main road were mixed with a mixture of old military vehicles to look at along... More

I took off from Beijing on an adventure for the day hoping to get to the harbour/port side to see some water. I caught the fast train to Tianjin (30 min) then a local bus to Hangu which is closer to the water. After getting off the bus I got in a taxi with my trusty Lonely Planet book in... More

The line of multi colored plastic trees skirting the car park are an early hint that this place is 'special'. The main attraction of the Kiev aircraft carrier has been augmented by a theme park based on all things Russian. The Disney style 'main street' has multi colored dachas, shops selling Russian foodstuffs and - best of all - a... More

This was the "Kiev" from the former USSR. Docked in mud with all power and military apparatus removed. It's a bit rusty and run-down. Only recommend if you've never been on one, or got a military buzz kid, so that you could get some flavor. Otherwise, it's next worth the long drive. Noctice: the wind is brutal, so unlike you're... We were a group of 6 who came here. When we heard aircraft carrier, the first thing we though was the modern age carrier. It's actually an old style Russian aircraft carrier. Other than not being able to live upto the expectation, it was a decent trip to the ship. Although there were a lot of old Russian and Chinese... More

Somehow I ended up visiting this ship on a scorching hot August day with my brother's family, my cousin's family, my 96-year-old grandma. The excitement was as high as the temperature when we finally arrived after a long search on the road due the GPS could not keep up the speed of road construction. From where we parked our car... over priced, pay for everthing, will never take family or friends to visit. Just an old ship that you can never see the whole ship that you can se in the states. Do not waste your money or the time it takes to go there.

Very unusual museum. No signs in English so difficult to learn anything. It is huge. Give yourself a few hours to look around. Good war type souvenirs. Very hot in the summer on the decks so avoid midday and on holidays or be prepared for hoards of people following ridiuclously loud megaphones. Ice cream, drinks and plastic noodles available on... As an aircraft carrier is the penultimate prestige symbol of any nation with naval related military aspirations, the carrier was purchased by China from the Ukraine for the purpose of developing their own capabilities. Having reverse-engineered the capabilities of this vessel, it is now offered as a tourist attraction. Comprised of several floors, the tourist has an opportunity to view... More
