Our July 14 2015 sailing on the Columbia from Sitka to Bellingham was delayed for 3 days. We had to find 3 nights extra lodging ( our expense) , a extra ferry trip from Sitka to Juneau ( to catch later ferry.. our expense) and eventually airfare home so we could meet work obligations (our expense). No reimbursement or even... More

We travelled from Bellingham to Haines on MV Columbia. It is an old ship that sometimes breaks down, but our trip was trouble free. We stayed in cabins and mainly ate our own food. We had our final lunch in the dining room. It was very, very good value. I was sorry we hadn't opted for the Saturday night buffet.... More

Passengers on the AMHS ferries who ask questions of crew, people in port, and fellow passengers will go home with a suitcase or pack full of general and specific vessel and nautical information (why the sides of the ferry are called port and starboard, how the toilets on board flush, how much fuel the ferry uses and carries), ideas of... Our departure July 17, 2015 from Bellingham on the Columbia was pushed back two days. We received an e-mail at 3pm the day before we were to have flown to the ferry terminal. AMHS tells us sorry for the inconvience and have a nice day. Our two week trip had to be cancelled, no way to make it work, as... More

The Alaska marine ferry service canceled schedyuled service without notice the removed destination from the scheduled route again with no notice. The have a ' tuff luck" attitude. They would provide any relief to travelers so you are just plain stuck. No customer service at all

Clean, spacious and beautiful - I was impressed. Smooth, well organized ride to Sitka from Juneau. I felt like we were on a cruise ship. There's room to walk around, a deck outdoors, clean bathrooms, tables to eat at and even a kids playing area. It was a very pleasant experience with amazing scenery en route to Sitka.

We rode the M/V Columbia from Bellingham to Juneau (Friday evening-Monday morning) with a 4-hour stop in Ketchikan, and brief stops in Wrangell and Petersburg. Everything about the journey was perfect--very clean and comfortable cabins, friendly crew members, beautiful scenery, pleasant passengers, and lots of food options. You can travel in whatever way fits your budget. Some passengers pitch a... More

We scheduled our whole vacation around taking the Alaska Marine Highway from Sitka, Alaska to Juneau on the Taku because it is a slow moving ship and it is beautiful inside passage. We awoke at 4:00am to get to the dock in time only to find that the trip was cancelled WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION OF US. Luckily we were able... More

Left Bellingham Friday night June 12th and arrived Juneau on Monday morning, June 15th. There were intermediate stops in Ketchikan, Wrangell and Petersburg. This was a truly authentic Alaska experience. We had a small 2 berth cabin, but spent minimal time there. The ship was spotlessly clean (not sure how they manage that) and the crewmembers could not have been... More
