There are many waterfalls in Alaska but so many of them are inaccessible, and many of the ones that are accessible aren't really worth the time. This is an exception. The trail is well-maintained and smooth enough for big wheel strollers and power wheelchairs, and gets you close enough to hear and feel the falls. About a 20 minute one-way... More

We did the mile hike down here, it was so worth it. You can walk right up to the waterfall!!! The mist is cold and refreshing, and the view of the glacier is unbeatable. This is the best part of Juneau!!!

It is huge! And, you can take a short walk and go right up to the bottom of the falls. It will take your breath away. You can experience the Nugget Waterfall and the Mendenhall Glacier at the same time. This is a must while in Juneau.

see the glacier and see the falls. same place. same trip. I was there before the tourist season started. I suggest that it would not be as wonderful standing shoulder to shoulder with hundreds or thousands of people.

I love walking out here frequently, as it is only about 2 miles round trip. The view is great and the sound of the water thundering down the mountainside is invigorating. Be sure to bring your camera!

We are locals and visit the falls several times a year at all four seasons. My partner hates to hike and is in terrible shape and still he enjoys the walk out while smoking and sneaking sips of Jack Daniel from his flask. All kidding aside, it is a lovely walk on uneven ground.

Every year since I moved here over 20 years ago, I walk to the falls a number of times each summer. The trail has improved over the years and it is a must do if you are in JNU for one day or even one week. It's about 1 mile from the Forest Service visitor center.

Nice walk to the water fall, very nice view towards the glacier. And the best thing, you could stand just in front of the water fall and feel the power it have.

When friends arrive by air or sea, Nugget Falls is often the first trail we take them to see. The flat ¾ mile trail is an engaging glimpse into what Juneau has to offer. While this can feel like a bustling big city street during peak summer, it is often clear in the early mornings and late evenings perfect for... More
