There's never a guarantee what you will see in the wild but it's a good bet when you go with an experienced tour operator. We were lucky enough to view 5 humpback whales bubble netting. Rare enough but even rarer in mid August. Better chance earlier in summer season. Boat captain stayed for at least 1 hour giving all ample... More

My family of 4 went on the silver boat and the boat was perfect- not too large and not too small. The ships upper and lower decks were perfect tor us all to spread out and not to be on top of each other as I saw on other boats. Captain Dirk was great and Chelsea- the trip narrator and... More

We booked a whale watch, glacier and city tour combo for our shore day in Juneau. Our boat arrived late at 10am, and it was difficult to locate the tour agent at the dock in the drizzle underneath the tramway. They put us on the 11:15 shuttle to see the Mendanhall Glacier first, with barely an hour to spend, and... More

We took a Juneau whale watching tour and trip to Mendenhall Glacier. . . whale watching was fun with Captain, Dirk and our guides Chelsea and Brendan. You have to be part stand-up comedian to entertain a tour crowd and Brendan did a great job entertaining us while Captain Dirk found the whales. After getting back to the marina, we... More

My cruise had come into Juneau not knowing that my original whale watching excursion for my family of 6 was cancelled due to weather. The original company I had booked guaranteed smaller tour groups but failed to mention that on rough sea days, their boat would not be allowed to go out due to its smaller size. After some tense... Our original helicopter excursion was cancelled due to inclement weather, rain and wind, bringing much disappointment. Going ashore in the pouring rain, we spontaneously decided to book the Mendenhall Glacier and Whale watch, despite having seen humpback whales on the East Coast previously, not having very high expectations. Before we even boarded the very spacious boat, I spotted some bald... More

Being limited in mobility we always look very carefully at any activities that we do and we checked very thoroughly into the whale watching scene at Juneau and combined this with the glacier visit. After arriving at Juneau city centre we had to deal with a certain amount of confusion finding the right bus and then the numbers didn't tally... More

We went whale watching for 3 hours with Cpt. Dirk, Mates AJ and Christian with Juneau Whale Watch. They were extremely informative, they used a sound mic in the water so we could here the whales and were able to determine when they would service. The pictures and sights we saw were fantastic. Bring a camera, dress for the weather... More

Capt. Bryan and Amanda were GREAT. We saw many whales. We had a great time. Capt. Bryan even had to zig when a whale came to the surface in front of the boat as we were heading back to the dock. Amanda was a wealth of knowledge of the whales and the local area. Would go on the whale watching... More

We bought this whale watch on impulse after three days on our Disney cruise ship yielded few spontaneous whale sightings. Thank goodness we did! It's not cheap, but it was worth every penny. We bought our tickets from a kiosk inside the Mt Roberts Tramway building and went on the boat after a bit of time spent up on Mt... More
