Charming bookstore

Overstuffed but charming bookstore. Owner is incredibly well informed on all things Alaska, is excited to share her knowledge and is a pleasure to talk to.

I was determined to visit Observatory Books after having seen the owner, Dee, on the BBC dvd "Alaska: Inside Passage." She is just as intelligent and engaging in person and her store is wonderful.

Dee has forgotten more than most of us will never know. If you are a history buff, DO NOT miss the opportunity to rummage through old books and maps while listening to musings of Dee Logenbaugh. I don't know which I enjoyed more, the bookstore or its owner.

It does have a few books but be well prepared to spend lot$ on anything worth owning. A couple books I was interested in weren't for sale, apparently reference material. It would be way down "my must visit while in Juneau" list.

This is a wonderful store to find Older books about Alaska, and the owner is very well informed on all things Alaska, including politics, and local character.

Your standard overstuffed, funky book store with a good section of Alaska specific books. A place to spend a while and search for that special find. Lots of little cubbies and rooms to explore on a rainy day.
