Owner description: Featuring Iditarod and Yukon Quest Athletes, Gold Rush Sled Dogs highlights summer cart-mushing in the picturesque Sheep Creek Valley. Situated within the historic Alaska-Juneau Gold Mine District, your ascent to dog camp follows the original mining road through dense temperate rain forest. Once in camp, you will be exposed to the musher's way of life and introduced to their teammates, the famed dogs of Alaska's official state sport. When ready, your musher will hook up the dogs and you will be whisked away aboard one of our specially designed wheeled carts for a thrilling ride along the scenic trail. Followed with everyone's favorite, the puppies, Gold Rush Sled Dogs is ideal for groups and mushers of all ages. We look forward to seeing you this summer, happy tails!

As soon as I saw this excursion as an option on our recent cruise, I wanted to book it right away. Let me tell you that we weren't disappointed in the least in the Gold Rush Dog Sled Tour. After a harrowing van trip to the camp (where you get to pass mining sights), you find yourself in a beautiful... More

Traveled here in August 2014 and this place is way better than any of the shore excursions that Holland America Line had to offer. These folks are real mushers and these are working dogs. These dogs are bred to pull sleds and love to do it. These dogs compete in the winter and taking tourists out are a way for... More

My husband and I went on this excursion August 2014 from Island Princess. We absolutely loved it.The dogs were amazing, the handlers and tour interesting, the cart ride so much fun. There were newborn puppies there with their eyes still closed and nothing could be better than holding them! This excursion rates an A plus from us. If we could have,... More

Juneau was one of our ports of call in our cruise vacation. We had booked this tour using a toursaver promotion. The booking process via email was smooth and friendly. The weather in Juneau on that day was not fantastic but the huskies saved the day. We were driven from the port to the Sheep Creek Valley for summer cart... More

I was looking for something fun to do when we where going to be in Juneau on our Disney cruise and chose this. My daughter loves dogs so she was in heaven. There where 120 dogs and they had 4 separate owners. All the dogs where happy and looked well cared for, we got to go on a dog sled... More

This was so exciting! If you love dogs you have to do this at least once in your life time! The mushers were so accommodating and offer a great experience into dog sledding in Alaska. Of course, it is summer camp and no snow but still they take you out in a sled with wheels. I would recommend this for... More

Austin did a fabulous job of telling us all about the Iditarod Race and how then breed and train the dogs from pups. The highlight was being pulled in a golf cart by the sled dogs. There were six adults and the dogs had no problem. Austin even had to slow them down at times. At the end of the... More

People please DO NOT spend your money supporting this awful tour. This is a like a concentration camp where they keep all these animals chained and confined to this tiny little houses with a very short chain. I regret visiting this place and in fact it affected my vacation because i could not stop thinking about the sad look in... More

This was unanimous choice by me, my wife and two kids (both high schoolers) for our shore excursion in Juneau. And boy did it exceed our expectations! The short 20 minute van ride took us past old gold mine remnants and through scenic wilderness. We arrived to a huge camp of over 100 dogs grouped by color coded dog houses.... More

I wasn't sure initially how this would go since it is summer, and knew we would go around in a cart, obviously not a sled. This trip was great! The employees were really informative on the racing, and also loved that they all have some of their own dogs at the camp. They are really into the sled racing and... More
