Situated within the historic Alaska-Juneau Gold Mine District, your ascent to dog camp follows the original mining road through dense temperate rain forest. Once in camp, you will be exposed to the musher's way of life and introduced to their teammates, the famed dogs of Alaska's official state sport. When ready, your musher will hook up the dogs and you will be whisked away aboard one of our specially designed wheeled carts for a thrilling ride along the scenic trail. Followed with everyone's favorite, the puppies, Gold Rush Sled Dogs is ideal for groups and mushers of all ages. We look forward to seeing you this summer, happy tails! « less

This was unanimous choice by me, my wife and two kids (both high schoolers) for our shore excursion in Juneau. And boy did it exceed our expectations! The short 20 minute van ride took us past old gold mine remnants and through scenic wilderness. We arrived to a huge camp of over 100 dogs grouped by color coded dog houses.... More

I wasn't sure initially how this would go since it is summer, and knew we would go around in a cart, obviously not a sled. This trip was great! The employees were really informative on the racing, and also loved that they all have some of their own dogs at the camp. They are really into the sled racing and... More

You never know when booking excursions off the cruise line website how really accurate the descriptions are. I used to own huskies and my spouse and I love outdoor and unusual experiences. Wow, this was one of the highlights of our cruise! Felt a little sorry for the dogs as they are tethered to a pole outside their doghouses, but... More

Will have to admit that my family went here because my younger son requested it. Well my entire family loved it. We are dog lovers and our hearts jumped when we got off the tour van and the dogs started to bark and howl. The dogs and sleds are set up to take the visitors through courses around the camp.... My family and I are completely unanimous when we say that this was our favorite part of our trip to Alaska. You truly get the full experience as a musher--but of course with the royal treatment. It was incredibly fascinating to hear about the history of the sport, the characteristics of the dogs, and the lifestyle of a musher. In... More

GREAT tour. Matt's passion for his dogs and his sport was obvious. We learned so much about raising dogs and dog racing. We can't say enough about how great this tour was. Anytime you get to speak with someone who actually does the thing he's talking about you're a step ahead of the game.

As experienced Greyhound people from Australia, we were keen to see a working dog farm. My wife and I booked this tour outside the boat and it was a great call - we were the only two on this morning tour. Jeremy the dog handler gave a us a great time playing with the dogs, talking about training, feeding breeding... More

Our entire family including grandparents, adult children, teens & youngsters participated in this experience. It was fantastic! Matt's discussion of Iditarod racing was heartfelt & informative. The sled dogs at work, seeing the adult dogs as well as interacting directly with the puppies was such great fun for all age groups. A vivid look at a terrific Alaskan tradition. This... More

We booked this excursion outside of our cruise. They picked us up on time right by our boat. This was a truly enjoyable experience for our entire family. Tonya did a great job showing the dogs to our kids and gave a great tour.
