Description: Gold Rush Dog Tours highlights summer cart-mushing in the picturesque...
Gold Rush Dog Tours highlights summer cart-mushing in the picturesque Sheep Creek in Juneau, Alaska. Your approach to dog-camp will bring you by the relics of Juneau's famed mining history, transporting you through the rain forest from sea level to our mountain valley home. While in camp, you will meet the Handlers and Mushers of Sheep Creek, as well as their teammates, the famed dogs of Alaska's official state sport. Following proper introductions, dog sled history, and a little mushing 101, you will take to our specially designed trainer carts for a 20-15 minute ride. Be sure to watch for porcupine, eagles, and even the potential black bear along the way. And then, there's cookies. Upon returning, it's time to crab a cookie and hot cup of cocoa prior to departing ways for your next adventure. Gold Rush Sled Dogs is ideal for groups and mushers of all ages. We look forward to seeing you this summer, happy tails!

We had taken an Alaskan cruise and while in Juneau we decided to do the Summer Dog Sled Camp offered by Princess. We were so glad we did. James Volek, an Iditarod racer himself, was our guide. He made every aspect of the tour interesting, showing and telling us about Iditarod races and his personal experience. We did about a... More

Our excursion was to Gold Rush Summer Camp out of Juneau. We enjoyed the brief & interesting historic tour and learning more about the Iditarod. But the dogs! Our teenage granddaughter sat on the ground & loved each and every one of them. The dogs were so excited to be hitting the trail again & those not going protested. What... More

Absolutely loved our time at the camp with the mushers and dogs. Maliko gave us quite an education about dog sledding and its history. We were able to ride the cart behind the dog team on a short trip. Lots of fun! Adored meeting and holding the new puppies. We would highly recommend this excursion and our guide Maliko. Great... Did this excursion in Skagway on a cruise. The whole family loved it! You've got sled dogs, a very personable Iditarod racer (who clearly loves his dogs), puppies you can hold, a room that's 40 below, and gold panning all in one trip. Originally thought the Iditarod explanation might be boring, but Matt Hayashida was fantastic! Very friendly and shares... More

This was one of the best excursions we had while in Alaska! Loved the dogs…they all wanted to run with/for us but it wasn’t their turn! The workers rotate through the large number of dogs they have so that everyone gets practice and training. All the dogs we had tied up for our run worked well together…funniest part was the... More

This off shore excursion was very entertaining. You get a long explanation from a "local gold digger, dressed in the part"... he shows you how to pan for gold,, and then you do it... it is quite entertaining to do so... then you get to go and see how much gold you found... and put it in a tiny bottle,... I attempted to reserve a spot for our trip to Juneau three times. Each time I waited over a week to hear back and got the response "we need to check our schedules" and that they would reach out once they had it. Over a month later I sent a reply asking about the schedule. Over the course of three... More

Dear Jaque3, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are terribly sorry for the service you received, there is absolutely no excuse and we were embarrassed to read of your experience. We recognize the financial sacrifice necessary in visiting Alaska and believe that the guest experience begins with the reservation inquiry. I want to assure you that we will be... More

We had a great time! Gabriella (Jackpot.Jill) was an excellent tour guide - knowledgeable, funny, and interesting. Dog Mushing and 40 below was fun!

The drive up here from Juneau is a bit harrowing- over dirt roads with steep dropoffs- but it's well worth it. You get to play with some dogs that are being trained to run in races like the Iditerod, learn about the history of the race, and you get a ride on a "sled" pulled by a team of dogs.... More

One of the more fun tours we took while on a cruise this past week. Our guide and dog musher, Maliko Ubl made it that way. She gave us the history of dog sledding and how it evolved into a sport. We got to see sleds from the old days and what they're like now. The best part of course... More
