We booked the Mendenhall Glacier 4 - 6 mile hike....I made the choice at home before we went on the Princess Cruise to Alaska...my husband and I are both over 50 so I was wondering if I should of taken the plunge and booked such a active excursion. It was through the Gastineau Guiding Company and the two gals that... More

Took the photo safari tour with Misha, had a fantastic time and finally learned how to take great pictures! Misha took the time to provide tips to every member of the tour! Thanks for a great experience and great pictures!

We were a bit skeptical when our cruise board tour coordinators called to say they had changed the time of our whale tour from the afternoon to the evening. They offered an alternative company, but we just liked the write-up for this tour and so indicated we take the new evening time. I am very glad we did. We were... More

We had a day's outing from a cruise ship with Lesley, Aleta and Capt Jeff from Gastineau Guiding in August. It was the most memorable day of the cruise for me partly because we saw whales and sea lions and all that amazing stuff, but also because of the warmth of the guides. A great day. Thanks!

I was part of a cruise ship and as one of the shore excursions we joined Gastineau Guiding for a Mendenhall Glacier hike. The hike turned out to be easier than we though it would be but the scenery, photo opportunities, and being in the outdoors was a wonderful experience. But the main reason that I am giving an excellent... More

We chose this hike as an excursion option from a Celebrity cruise, and it was fabulous. Our very knowledgeable guide, Aleta, was well trained in Forestry and First Aid, and she provided us with water, snacks, and walking sticks, as well as a bit of a safety talk. The hike was considered strenuous because of the change in elevation along... More

geat experience, we first went to the rain forrest and glacier, then onto the boat for whale watching. The group is only 14 people and the windows open to ensure you get maximum opportunity for photos, you are also allowed on the front deck where i spend most of my time. First saw a few whales in the background, but... More

We went on the Mendenhall Glacier trail hike while cruising with Princess. I didn't know what to expect as 3.5h seems quite a long time for a 5-6 mile trail, I was expect to just stroll through some nice sites. Turns out this is quite a challenging hike and we absolutely loved it! While on the bus, making out way... More

We went on the photo safari package from HAL. Misha was our guide and Jim was our boat captain. Misha was great in explaining the basics of speed, aperture and other stuff your camera does in order to take pictures on the water and on land. The boat ride was great where we saw plenty of whales and able to... More
