On the Photo Safari, with a naturalist / professional photographer as the guide, you are taken on a relatively (less than two mile) hike through temperate rainforest in Juneau, leading to the Mendenhall Glacier. The foliage in the forest is amazing, the scale of the glacier impossible to adequately describe. A short bus ride to Auke Bay brings you to... More

My husband and I took the Portrait of the Mendenhall Glacier: Day Hike. We were pleasantly surprised when we learned it was just the guide and us, which allowed for a spectacular one-of-a kind adventure! Alaska offers so much beauty. (**Our trip was really Sept 2010 the computer options stopped at Nov. 2010) More

My husband and I took the Photo Safari by Land and Sea through Gastineau and were somewhat disappointed. We were picked up in the tourists' downtown Juneau and driven to the dock where we boarded a not-quite-large-enough safe boat. We were told we would be split into groups of 7 so that we'd have more personal attention, as this tour... More

We booked the Whale Watching & Mendenhall Glacier Photo Safari through Princess Cruises. Our tour guide, Jim, was amazing. Jim instructed us on the best settings to use on our camera in order to capture the whale pictures. We saw many whales and got some great pictures as well. After the whale watching, we boarded a small bus to a... More

Our travel agent discouraged from pre-booking excursions online. Then we discovered this tour (Alaska's Whales and Rainforest Trails) and noted that it takes only 40 people from each cruise liner. So we quickly went online and got ourselves a place. We're so happy we did take that decision. The tour was definitely the best one out of all the three... More

This is the only attraction that we are still talking about and still quote Richard, our Guide, with all the infomation he gave us. You could tell he really cared about us as a group and was looking to make this the best experience ever, which he did. Would reccomend this tour and ask for this guide to anyone wanting... More

My partner and I were booked on a shore excursion with Gastineau Guiding (photo safari tour) as part of our celebrity cruises holiday. There is nothing to suggest on Gastineau Guiding's website that disabled people or those in wheelchairs cannot go on their tours. I am a very independant wheelchair user who has travelled around the world on my own... More

Gastineau Guiding takes seriously any criticism to heart, as we welcome both positive and negative feedback. In regards to accessibility, we strive to make our tours as accessible as we can for those wanting to participate. With 24 hours advanced notice we have and will continue to accommodate participants who are blind and may travel with a seeing-eye dog, who... More

We went on a 2-week cruise in Alaska and while in Juneau we did the "Alaska's Whales & Rainforest Trails" tour and the "Mendenhall Glacier: Guide's Choice Trail Hike" tour. Our tour guide was Emily on both occasions and she was absolutely fantastic!!! We had an amazing experience with whales and orcas and we even saw two bears while hiking... More

Gastineau Guiding led our "Alaskan Whales and Science" tour through the DIsney cruise to Alaska, and WOW they did a great job! We've been on lots of whale watches in Hawaii before, and the factor which always makes a difference for us is knowing that we're with a tour/company which is educationally-based, environmentally sound, and is nonprofit. Gastineau and our... More

We just returned from our first trip to Alaska as part of a 7 day cruise from Seward to Vancouver. One of the highlights of our trip was our Guides Choice Hike around Mendenhall Glacier with Gastineau Guiding. Our tour guide was Emily and she was fantastic. Her enthusiasm was infectious and despite the near constant downpour we had a... More
