My wife was a little skeptical about going on a charter. However after spending the day on Rum Runner with Captain Chris the trip became her favorite memory of our entire trip. She caught a 22 lb King Salmon! Also, we had a whale come within 2 feet of the boat, then swim around us for about 5 minutes. As... More

Captain Chris took my wife and I and another couple, friends of ours out on the best wildlife cruise we have ever been on, and we've done several. We were on the lookout together and spotted humpbacks within 20 minutes. Next was orkas. sea lions, harbor seals and for a finale, a rare up close

I have never bothered writing a review before but felt compelled to because Captain Chris of Rum Runners (small local owned and operated) gave us such a fantastic experience. He picked the 5 of us up from our cruise liner and drove us to/from his launch, for our private charter. Soon we were watching whale. I'll never forget the thrill... More

Four of us on Coral Princess have just done this tour. I can't recommend it enough. Get a group of up to six together and book it now! We did a three hour whale spotting. Chris met us as we came down the stairs off the ship and drove us about 15 minutes to the marina. Then after a safety... More

We were on a cruise, but my cousin highly recommended this whale watching tour. With six of us we paid about the same as those on the cruise who paid for the cruise ship whale watching excursion. The difference was there were six of us (besides the captain and first mate) vs about 50 on the cruise excursion boats. The... More

As a party of four (two Aussies and 2 Canadians) we booked Captain Chris's whale watching experiences. We had the most amazing 2 hour experience. Captain Chris met us at our cruise ship and drove us to the marina where we headed out in search of whales. I had never been whale watching before and didn't know what to expect.... More

We took the Captains choice trip mid July, a group of four. We arranged for them to pick us up at the Glacier for an afternoon trip. We had a young but knowledgable and enthusiastic crew. The day was very nice and the whales cooperated fully. We followed two different pods bubblenetting, one having about 12 whales and the second... More

This was the absolute best day of our trip to Alaska. Captain Chris was very easy to work with during the planning phase. Captain Josh was fantastic and offered lots of information about the area as well as the whales. We saw several different pods with lots of surface activity. We even got to see one group bubble netting. Josh... More

We chose Rum Runner Whale Watching and Fishing Charters as a recommendation from a friend. Since we were on a cruise, our time was limited, but Captain Chris met our ship shortly after docking and made the most of our tour! We were the first boat on the water that morning, giving us the whale watching show of our lives...all... More

My wife and i decided to take the private hire rum runner whale watching trip on our day in juneau from our cruise and oh so glad we did. The extra cost over the organised cruise excursion allowed for a more personal trip with just us two, captain Chris and his lovely marine expert friend Shirleen, plus not forgetting their... More
