We booked a tour through our cruise line. We spent two hours there which is all you need to spend there. The hike is an hour long hike but definently worth it. The hike is just as great as the destination.

If you don't do anything else in Juneau, be sure to go here. I went on a cold drizzly day and it was still one of the most spectacular settings I have ever seen. There is a nice network of trails that lead to the lake and a great visitor center if you want to get out of the weather.... More

we took the local bus for $7.00 each way and were not dissapointed. This area is magnificent we walked to the falls which were so worth the not so hard effort with some amazing photo opportunities on the way. Wouldn't have missed this for the world.

If you never knew much about glaciers before when you leave here you will be an expert. Friendly staff explain in depth what how and when these marvels came into being. You can see how it is retreating and the scars in the granite it has created.

Had a free afternoon while in Juneau and went to Mendenhall Glacier. A short drive from downtown Juneau. Very interesting spot with excellent views of the glacier, a beautiful lake, a nice short hike and a visitors center worth checking out. We even saw a mother black bear and 2 cubs close up. You get to see a lot in... More

Do not miss this Glacier! You can walk very close to it, and take some very good pictures! We stopped there in May 2014 at the end of our whale watching tour with Harv and Marv. We were there long enough to take a lot of pictures and see the Nugget Falls which drop almost 400 feet!

Took last chance tours to the glacier and back. The ice chunks on the crystal clear lake were beautiful. Lived the waterfall and up closer view of the glacier. Sad to see how far it has retreated and reading all the signs was very informative. I recommend the visit to anyone in the Juneau area.

One of the attractions on the Carnival cruise I went on included switching onto a smaller boat and sailing closer to get a better look at the glacier... And man was it beautiful! The boat was treated to a rare 20-story segment of the glacier fall into the water. If was astounding to see the impact, hear the sound 5... More
