Unique experience in which you can view a major glacier and falls up close. Beautiful brief walk to both the Mendenhall glacier and Nugget Falls. The sights and sounds of the glacier, and the roar of the falls are mesmerizing. You can also view salmon runs in near by streams. A must see when visiting Juneau. Regular round trip public... More

What a great place for a hike. Mendenhall Glacier was one of the many highlights of our Alaskan Adventure. Yes, it was an adventure and there were bears involved. Ruth went off on a separate hike, singing "the bear went into the woods" and fortunately did not spot a bear. I did, three in fact. They were a discreet distance... More

My wife and I recently took a cruise & tour of Alaska. I figured we may do this only once so I spared no expense on land tours. Taking a chopper to the glacier was our favorite tour. I would have regretted not experiencing this adventure. GO!!

This glacier is in my backyard. You can literally drive up to the viewing area. Very busy in the summer with the tourists, but beautiful all year! The ice caves are here and Nugget Falls is a nice walk. During spawning season watch for bears! Come up and see it!

Kinda hard to get to if you don't have a car. If i were from out of town trying to get here cheap, i'd take a bus to the beginning of the back loop road and walk. If i didn't want to walk, which might be smart due to the amount of bear activity on the road to the glacier... More

Beautiful, and interesting. We went before the cruise tours arrived and after they left. Almost had the place to ourselves! Wish we had more time to explore it though.

My home is on the last street before the entrance to the Mendenhall Glacier. As a volunteer with the Juneau Visitors Bureau, I could truthfully say that visiting the glacier was the most experience you could get per dollar anywhere in Southeast Alaska! Although there are many commercial tours available, you can take the city bus for about $5.00 round... More

This was a long-awaited adventure when we called at Juneau on a cruise ... flew in to the site by helicopter - we are certainly not newcomers to helicopter flights, but this was awesome! On to the glacier and spent a wonderful time with the dogs and the musher to whom we were assigned... words can't describe the experience. Sure,... More

This glacier has great trails to give good access for great pictures! The visitor center is most informative. In the summer you can see salmon spawning in the glacier river. A great place for kids and adults in Juneau.
