Alaskan sized adventure! This is it, the world's largest zip-line: 5,330 feet long, 1,300 foot vertical drop, 60 mph maximum speed, 300 feet highest point from ground, 1.5 minute ride time! If you are looking for true adventure then the ZipRider is for you. Unlike anything you've seen before the ZipRider cable ride at Icy Strait Point is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Your adventure begins when you board your bus for the ride to the top the mountain. Your driver will narrate as you pass through the village of Hoonah and then up the mountainside. Once on top you will take a short walk to the launching area. At 1,300 feet above sea level you will sit into a special harness seat and await your launch. Six guests launch at once, and it is a race to the bottom! 3, 2, 1 and you're off, accelerating to 60 mph as you pass 300 feet above the treetops. If your eyes are still open you will see sweeping views of Port Frederick, Icy Strait and your cruise ship far below. Your ZipRide concludes with a break-activated landing on the beach back at Icy Strait Point.Participants must be between 90 and 275 pounds and be comfortable with heights. This ride is not recommended for individuals with back or neck problems, or who are pregnant. Photos will be available at the end of your ride!

Worth the 1.5 hours of wait. The zip rider was malfunctioning and operation had to be suspended (6/16/15). The company offered a ride back to those who did not want to wait (half of the group)-- but we waited and boy, it was worth it! (They did the quality control and tested the lines before resuming operation. That's very reassuring).... More

This is everything and more that is described in their brochure and on line. It is not for those with true fears of heights. It is for the thrill seeker in us all!!

The ZipRider was a great experience and had crazy speed! They take you up on a school bus and then you zip on down the hill to the cannery. When we went it was foggy but the fog lifted and we had a great view. They have 6 chairs and you must wait for your turn. This took about 45... More

I have to do this every time I am there. It is a 45 minute drive up the mountain and if you're lucky, you'll see more then bear skat. Then it's about a 5 minute walk down to the platform. There are six cables, so your group can go down together. Feet up on the door, strapped in...1-2-3 and the... More

This was short but fun as hell. I was amazed at how many older folks went on this. After a 45 minute drive up a mountain, seeing some wild life and going above the clouds we got off the bus. Then down this beautiful wooded path to the zip line. Once there we got buckled into a seat, put our... More

What a fantastic ride. That's 90 seconds we'll remember for the rest of our lives. We wanted to get right back up there for a repeat, but were hoping for a price discount. No deal, they said. It was expensive, but worth it.

Afraid to death after taking the long drive up the mountain (approx 45 minutes), and even after getting strapped in, BUT after 3-5 seconds the jitters are over, just marvel at the beautiful, breathtaking nature that Alaska has to offer. If you love adventure this is the ride of a life time, and only wish I did it with my... More

My husband did this with our friend while her husband and I stayed back to get pictures. They both loved it. The views were incredible while you are on the zipline. The 45 bus ride was very informative. The driver was a talker (in a good way!) and they enjoyed listening to life in Alaska and the area.

I wish my husband hadn't had back surgery - so he could experience this with me. Saw a couple of eagle at eye level going up the mountain for the ride of my life. The bus driver was very informative on the trek up. Couldn't have imagined how great a ride down this would be - Don't chicken out and... More
