If you are travelling to Icy Strait Point and Hoonah, whale watching excursion is must to do in this area. There isn't much to do in this area except Whale Watching or Bear Search excursions. I was lucky enough to find the best in the business for our whale watching experience with Hoonah Travel Adventures. Angie and Paul was absolutely... More

We booked this after reading positive tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. Hoonah was an interesting and authentic Alaskan town and this is a family run and operated business. Captain Paul was cheerful and knowlegeable. His middle school age daughter came along and was so sweet and even sang for us in a tribal language she learned in school! We... More

From the very first phone call, Angie was a dream person to work with. I was greeted with a hug on the dock. I felt she immediately I had a new friend. Our family of nine adults wanted to experience a more intimate whale watch tour than the big cruise ship offering. We saw their boat crowded with hundreds of... More

The personal experience starts with Captain Paul and Zach! They know where to find the whales, and can answer any question you have related to the area. Also, because the size of the group allowed does not exceed 18, you feel as if you were on your own personal boat. We saw a brown bear foraging on the shoreline and... More

We have been on 4 Alaska cruises, and the Hoonah Travel Adventures' Whale Watch was the best time we've ever had. (Dr.) Sandy Kramer, Scottsdale, AZ

We had such an amazing time on the boat with Captain Paul and Zach. They were very knowledgeable and you could tell how much they loved their jobs. A pod of Orca Whales came right next to the boat! That was certainly a highlight of our Alaska cruise. We also saw several humpbacks, a brown bear on the coast, and... More

This is the way to see whales - on a smaller boat with an independent tour company rather than a large ship's shore excursion. We had been on one of those in Juneau and while we saw a large group of whales bubble net feeding, it was hard to get pictures because there were so many people in the way... More

First my wife and I would like to thank Capt. Paul and assistant Zach for a great tour! Now we are unable to control mother nature or the animals, but if we could the day would have been exactly like the day we experienced! Capt. Paul is full of interesting experiences and we enjoyed his stories about his family and... More

Outstanding trip. We saw 6 or more hump back whales up close and personal. Paul and Zach did a great job. The boat is roomy and comfortable and it was nice to go inside when you wanted to get warmed up. I like the fact that the boat only held 14 people, so you had a more intimate experience. I... More

This trip was excellent. We saw a group of 6 or more humpback whales, a solitary male humpback whale, sea lions, otters and deers. The smaller boat made it much easier to take photos & I have some amazing whale photos from this trip. Definitely a highlight of our Alaska visit.
