A must see when traveling to Homer, AK. Norman Lowell is an amazing artist, and his gallery is uptown for sure. Mr. Lowell and his wife are there to greet you and discuss his works. A real surprise to visit in rural Alaska. You can purchase print, cards and original paintings.

Thankfully someone told us about this place or we might have missed it. There are a few flags with the word "Gallery" as you approach, but nothing more. Drive up the winding driveway through the woods and come to the most interesting art gallery you can imagine, full of artist Norman Lowell's Alaskan paintings as well as other Alaskan artwork... What an unexpected pleasure and dream it was for me to personally meet this wonderful man!!! He was in the gallery when a whole bus load of us decided unannounced to visit his gallery. His paintings were just out of this world...beautiful!! This beautiful man may be blind...yes blind, but he still paints and paints he does.....so beautifully through memory!!!... More

We toured the gallery and grounds as part of a cruise excursion. Mr. Lowell has amazing talent across a wide range of mediums. His determination to continue to paint despite losing most of his eyesight is inspiring. This was time well spent.

Walking in the front door of the Norman Lowell Gallery gave me no idea of just how large this gallery was. Pictures painted over the years by an artist who is now 87 years old and legally blind are awesome. We felt honored to meet Mr Lowell himself.

This is an unexpected find near Homer. The paintings are fantastic and we had a nice relaxing time visiting the gallery and appreciated the fantastic paintings.

Split decision in my group. 1/2 of us admired the bold, majestic representational kind of landscapes that are there. The other 1/2 found them a bit "mundane" (not interpretive) and there are LOTS and LOTS of paintings. Lovely setting. To each their own

The building from the outside is unobtrusive, but when you enter it is amazing! Filled with years worth of art by Alaskan artist, Norman Lowell plus pieces by others he has either purchased or traded. Wall sized paintings (the Aurora piece feels like you are truly having the experience), the colors, the lighting, the essence of the place are just... More

There is so much to see here, many, many paintings by Norman Lowell, pastel, oil, acrylic, small, huge, in a large and elegant museum. We also enjoyed our conversation with Mr.Lowell and hear him tell some of what he and his wife's experiences.
