My husband and I were visiting friends in Homer and they told us about the Norman Lowell Gallery. It's easy to miss since it's not really advertised but we searched it out as we made the drive from Homer back to Anchorage. I am so glad we did! What a fantastic experience! This wonderfully talented man is so prolific with... More

It is easy to drive down the highway without stopping for this attraction. It is not advertised. I learned about the gallery from other travelers. Norman and his wife homesteaded in Alaska from Iowa in 1958. They built their home and raised 5 children at this location. When Norman wasn't providing for his family he would travel the area making... More

My husband and I own a lodge on the Kasilof River here in Alaska. We always tell our guests who are venturing down to Homer that they MUST stop at mile 161 and see the Norman Lowell gallery. The talent this wonderful man has will literally take your breath away. For those visitors who have never seen the beauty of... More

Another don't miss. Incredible talent. It is hard to believe this studio is in Anchor Point, AK but then again it is another reason why it is so amazing. Norman was in the studio and was very helpful. Loved the whole setting.

Wow! This incredibly beautiful space is part museum, part art gallery, and part celebration of nature's glory and one man's peerless ability to capture and enhance it. Mr. Lowell's style is part naturalistic and part impressionistic, and the colors and scale of some of these paintings will take your breath away. I'm not really a fan of paintings done with... More

If you're traveling to Homer, do NOT miss this studio and gallery. Norman Lowell and his wife, Libby, have lived a fascinating life in Alaska and celebrated his beautiful paintings (oil, watercolors and other mediums) by constructing an immense, beautiful gallery to showcase them. The gallery also highlights exquisite displays of artwork from Alaska. The Lowells have gifted the showing... More

This is a must see in Homer, Alaska. Mr. Lowell, who is likely to greet you at the door in his wheel-chair, captures the light, space, and color of Alaska perfectly. I am a semi-professional photographer and in my dreams I capture the essence of a landscape with the power and beauty of Mr. Lowell’s brush. Be advised, you will... More

Indeed surprising. You probably have to KNOW about it, to find it. Norman Lowell has a very impressive art gallery, both in size and in content. And most important it contains his own most beautiful paintings, which he created in decades of work. He captures Alaskan views as most of us can only hope to see. A very nice experience... More

We will return to Alaska for the third time in six years this June. One of the main reasons to make this 4,560 mile journey (by air) is to visit with the landscape artist, Norman Lowell and his gracious, beautiful wife, Libby. There are many breathtaking and one-of-a-kind vistas in the great state of Alaska. There are so many that... More
