Meads are pretty tasty, though quite expensive

Was nice to stop in at a meadery while in Alaska as there aren't very many in the state. The meads that Ring of Fire brews vary from halfway decent to quite good. Unfortunately, the price on the meads range from what I'd pay for pretty good to really, really good. Ended up not walking away with any mead as... More

We stopped here on the fermentation tour in Homer. We were the only customer in the place so we were able to ask all sorts of questions, taste a bunch of different meads, and get some background on the meadery. It was a fun stop.

I don't remember mead beingnas sweet as what we tasted here, but it was an interesting stop along the way and had some lovely arts and crafts for sale.

Great little place to taste several types of Mead, and learn about them. It was very informative, and the staff was exceptionally attentive. We found out Mead is very flavorful, and is treated like fine wines. The only problem we had was the prices on the board, didn't match what we were charged. We purchased 2 bottles of Mead which... Tasted the wine first and HAD to find out more. A great Mom and Pop operation, Boy, do they know what they are doing! Their tasing room is open 12-6 summers. Find the many selections you love. produced without sulfites or preservatives and finest honey and local fruits and berries. The downside was I could not ship any home (not... More

Who knew I could like mead? A relaxed tasting experience at the store encouraged us to bring home two bottles. I also appreciated that Cafe Cups served Ring of Fire's mead with our dinner or else I might not have gone to their store front on my own.

The Meadery is one of the three stops on the Homer Fermentation Tour. I had heard and read about Mead, but had no clue what it was. Simply, it is honey based wine. The Meadery is very small, more a storefront, but you can sample from a number of Meads. Just because they are honey based does not mean they... More
