The weekly (Thursday & Friday at 3 pm during the summer) Pratt Museum Historic Harbor Walking tour departs from and returns to a small kiosk near the front of the Salty Dawg and after our tour we decided to stop in for a beer. It's an iconic, dark, small saloon and it seemed I could "feel" the history of the... More

Our B and B owner sort of glossed over this and did not recommend going to it however, my husband and I like odd/dive bars and this one was great. It was crowded but we got service right away and it was interesting to talk to people from all over the place in there. We only had one beer but... More

The bar is cash only, so be prepared when you arrive to pay in paper only. The Saloon is located on the spit, so make a pit stop on your way back into Homer. There is quite a lot of history with the Saloon, including a geological marker that can be entered into ship GPS units (this is the only... More

Stopped by this joint to grab a beer with family and friends. It was very interesting inside. I'm sure the reason it is so popular is due to the Deadliest Catch series; however, it was definitely a must see inside. Everything was covered in dollar bills, or some sort of currency. It was neat. The place was packed, but everyone... More

Rude servers. Cash only. No draft beer. No specialty cocktails. Just a tourist trap with dollar bills on the wall. Spend your money on a campsite and a few beers around the fire. Just noooooooooo!! Cool building... Enjoy it as you walk past.

Hole in the wall establishment where the walls and ceiling are covered in dollar bills. Drinks are strong and the locals are colorful. It's a must stop in Homer.

This is NOT a bar. It's not a pub. There's no food to select, no draft beer to choose, no locals attempting to entertain you from a dark corner of the shack. The Salty Dawg (in Latin: Scarbutus Canus. I know, that blew your socks off) IS a saloon . . . a true Alaskan saloon delivering bottled beer and... More

It's one of those places where you gotta go see it, write on a dollar bill and hang it up somewhere. We were told that the bills on the sides of the wall were collected every few months (?) and donated so we put one up on the ceiling and one on the wall, we even bought a hoodie, I... More

After hearing everyone one say we needed to go to the Salty Dwag, we stopped there on our visit to Homer. The place was empty around two o'clock in the afternoon. After waiting for at least 10 minutes the waitress finally came over. Without greeting us she asked for our license . I had left mine in Anchorage and she... More
