It's pricey but so worth it. Spend the day with a bunch of bruins and have Gary Porter fly you and show you the world of the brown bear.

We hesitated because of the cost and we would be travelling in August, past the time to view bears at Brooks River Falls. We are so glad we made the trip. JR took us to the Funnel Creek area where we saw numerous bears & cubs so preoccupied w/ the salman that they didn't mind our being 30 feet from... More

What can we say other than no regrets, loved every minute. We are not rich, nor are we aspiring photographers, but we do love bears and felt it was even better than we had hoped and expected. Tony the pilot was amazing, and even let my husband ride shotgun on the way back, a real thrill for him. We went... More

We booked our trip to Katmai National Park (Brooks Camp) and were very pressed with our trip. Our flights were such a great part of the bear viewing experience. Our pilot (AJ) was a professional pilot in every way. He was courteous and patient with all passengers. Safety was a priority and the planes were clean and well maintained. It... More

We’ve had a lifetime of amazing wildlife encounters on every continent and we rank our bear-watching experience with Bald Mountain Air as one of the best ever. We went out with them on 2 different days at the end of July to Funnel Creek in Katmai and it was extraordinary. We would have been happy seeing just a few bears,... More

It has been three weeks since my bear viewing and I still look at the pictures and pinch myself. We flew to Katmai National Park from Homer and landed on a small plane that held 10 passengers. I was able to sit up front with the pilot on the way there and it was breathtakingly beautiful and exciting. Landing on... More

I went on this trip with my 18 y old son. We had the time of our life. Before making reservations we got a lot of info and advice by e-mail from Bald Mountain Air. They answered every question we had. The day before the flight we went to check in and got a warm welcome from Heidi at their... More

My sixth time to Alaska and without a doubt I think the most memorable and rewarding thing to do is a bear safari, and I have to say I've been extremely impressed with BMA both times! J.R., our pilot (and stand-up comic hopeful) was fun and professional. The tundra and the bears are incredible! If you're only going to Alaska... More

I would like to thank J.R., the pilot/guide for such precise look out for the bears and intense care for the viewers.... And thank you for taking such gentle care of our 8 year-old daughter Emma.... And thanks to Tony, the other pilot for the beautiful picture of our family with the bear... It was an amazing experience in all... More

OK so you've read all of the reviews for how awesome the trip is...they are true. You get a great fly in and excellent bear viewing for your $650 per person. Here's what you may not know:This is not a stroll along paved or even well worn trails. It is, depending on your age and weight, a strenuous hike across... More
