OK so you've read all of the reviews for how awesome the trip is...they are true. You get a great fly in and excellent bear viewing for your $650 per person. Here's what you may not know:This is not a stroll along paved or even well worn trails. It is, depending on your age and weight, a strenuous hike across... More

On July 23, 2014 my husband and I had the experience of a lifetime when we flew with Bald Mountain Air to Katmai National Park to view bears fishing in the Brooks River Falls. Our pilot, Tony was fantastic. We had a smooth flight and beautiful views on both to and from Katmai. Tony described the beautiful views and pointed... More

I have to start by saying that my sister went on this excursion. They only had one space open and unfortunately I was unable to go. However, after hearing her experiences Myself and my mother already planning our trip next year and definitely plan to return to Homer and this is at the very top of our list. We were... More

I signed up for this at the last minute and was very afraid of bears beforehand. However, I knew this might be my only chance to do this. Bald Mountain Air was amazing. Our pilot, James Roe, exceeded all expectations. He was very knowledgeable...not only about bears but about the area over which we flew and the area where we... More

Flight: Skilled pilots, clean aircraft, beautiful scenery. During 1.5 hr flight, pilot shared information about scenery and kept us informed of weather conditions and arrival time. We felt safe and in good hands. Pilot (and Bald Mountain Air staff) gave us guidance on food to bring and recommended we eat prior to, or during, the mandatory briefing so once the... More

I was very nervous about this excursion but I didn't need to be. The flight was very smooth with some wonderful scenery. It started to rain after our bear orientation with the rangers but it didn't dampen our spirits. The 1.5 mile walk by ourselves to the bear viewing platform was a bit nerve wracking but apparently my singing was... More

OMG, this is one of the best experiences I've ever made! A smooth and wonderful flight to Katmai to watch some bears. And man, we did see some of them! James is an amazing pilot with a great sense of humour.

Well worth the (fairly steep) price. Flew from Homer to Brooks Lake near Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park. It was cloudy, so the mountain viewing on the flight wasn't as spectacular as it would be on a clear day. However, it was sunny at Brooks Falls, and it was an amazing sight seeing up to six bears at a... More

The flight itself is incredible ... the water and the volcanoes should be enough, but then you get to Katmai National Park and are within viewing distance of these giant creatures. Sure, most of the time you'll watch them from a viewing platform (for you safety!), but you'll still see creatures truly in the wild being themselves. Magnificent and worth... More

Our first activity in Alaska was bear viewing. It was unbelievable. Exceeded all expectations. Our pilot was Tony. He was very knowledgeable about the area and the bears. We did have quite a walk to get to the bears, over a rocky coast, up and down short steep hills and through long grass. We did find the bears and sat... More
