Description: We offer Half Day and Overnight Bear and Wildlife Viewing Trips out to...
We offer Half Day and Overnight Bear and Wildlife Viewing Trips out to Katmai National Park from May through September. We have been guiding trips to Katmai for 26 years, and we have a perfect safety record with our experience with the bears. Hallo Bay Bear Camp is a fully sustainable wilderness camp designed to be a trend setting model of responsibility and low impact to this environment. Our guests observe the bears in their natural habitat where there are no viewing platforms or man-made trails. We limit our groups in size because it is our experience that small groups are much less impacting than large groups of people on any wilderness outing. The smaller group size intimidates wildlife less and leaves a much less impacting footprint on the habitat.

Don't think, just go! I highly recommend this company if you are thinking of going to Hallo Bay (Katmai NP) to see brown bears. Their communication during the booking, check-in and transfer process was very good and they have top-notch guides when you get there. I highly recommend doing an overnight package, if you can, for an even more intense... More

Such a wonderful life experience. One I will never forget. First, I must mention the current camp is much more primitive than the reviewer before me experienced. No bathrooms or electrical chargers. But what fun. I'm no photographer but I got some amazing pictures. Everyone had our safety foremost and I never felt threatened. Thank you Vivian, Lance, Jerry, and... More

I'm very late in writing this review ... almost a year ... but I'm planning another trip to Hallo Bay. This is definitely a place for your 'bucket list'. Hallo Bay is a permanent tented camp located on the Alaska Peninsula, at the edge of Katmai National Park. A friend and I had been looking for a place to photograph... More

The original camp sounded much more comfortable than the current "digs," but it's definitely a truer wilderness experience if you stay overnight. Our trip over was a bit scary due to weather, but our pilot from Germany was spectacular. And, there's no controlling weather! We walked miles in the cold wind and rain, and the bears did not disappoint. We... More

We booked a half-day bear viewing trip to Katmai NP with Hallo Bay. We were impressed by their website, the pictures and the description of the half-day tour to Katmai NP. However, we never got to go to Katmai NP which was advertised as a scenic one hour flight along the coast. Instead the pilot took us to the shores... More

Have visited Hallo Bay Bear Camp several times. Pilots always courteous, informed, and chose whether to fly out of concern for safety....never choosing weather which might change during trip over or back. Plenty of bears, staff courteous, and the location provides.....as Service wrote....A stillness which provides me with peace. Jack

I just don't understand people who complain because they don't get to go because of bad weather. I would much rather have a trip canceled and stay alive and well than go with a company that "pushes the envelope" when it comes to flying in dangerous weather. It is hard to understand it you don't live here, that just because... More

Wouldn't recommend as we stayed in Homer for a number of days & because of weather, trips kept being postponed until we could wait no longer..............extra costs associated with staying and they don't refund the money you have paid. Not good.............

My daughter and I had a GREAT experience during our stay at Hallo Bay Bear Camp. The staff is very professional and did a fine job ensuring our stay was focused on viewing bears in their natural habitat (we saw bear every day!), while also enjoying the wonder and beauty of Katmai National Park. The camp is well organized, reasonably... More
