Enjoy spectacular views and informative commentary from your guide on the wildlife, geology, and beautiful landscape. Watch for whales along the way, as you glide past breathtaking glaciers and cascading waterfalls. Upon arrival in Haines, enjoy a tour of historic Fort Seward before heading to your paddling destination at Chilkoot Lake. This incredible location is home to all five species of Pacific salmon, numerous bald eagles, waterfowl and one of the highest concentrations of brown bears in southeast Alaska! You will be outfitted in the necessary equipment, receive a water-safety briefing, a thorough introduction to kayaking, and then start out onto the water. No previous experience is necessary and the expert guides will quickly make everyone at ease in the kayaks. The triple kayaks are very stable, spacious, and make excellent viewing platforms. Everyone will enjoy the excitement of kayaking in the midst of towering mountains and spectacular scenery. You may also be treated to outstanding bear viewing during the riverside drive to the lake and while paddling. Multiple spawning streams enter the lake and offer frequent bear and eagle sightings. You'll have 1.75 hours to explore by kayak. The location is chosen to provide the best kayaking and wildlife-viewing conditions and there is no better way to fully experience the beauty of Alaska! « less

My husband and I were on a cruise that stopped in Skagway. Neither of us had ever been kayaking and my husband suggested it as one of our excursions. I was a little nervous, but agreed. Our guide met us at the port and bussed us to the ferry boat. We road that to Haines where we met our other... More

Our family of 6 really enjoyed this adventure. We kayak at home so the paddling was easy on this smooth lake. The scenery was absolutely breath taking. Our 4 guides were easy going and friendly but very attentive to the needs of the group. They gave instructions in a positive way and encouraged my youngest son on his efforts. It... More

Wow, my wife and I have NEVER been climbing or rappelling and when she suggested this activity on a trip to Skagway on a cruise shop, I thought she had gone MAD! We met 2 youngsters off the cruise ship, Sarah and Tony who told us that they were the teachers for this activity. I am going to skip to... More

The two of us do some hiking and love the outdoors but hadn't really kayaked before. But we couldn't go to Alaska without experiencing the water, up close and personal! Cedar and Holly were two of our guides on Chilkoot Lake and both were very helpful, fun and really knew their stuff! And the rest of the staff was great... More

7/25/2013 This was our last "tour" of the week - and the best! We previously did the glacier wilderness tour which was great) but there is something about being on the lake with someone who can tell you everything you wanted to know ...and more. She made sure our lake trip was memorable and she was just a pleasure to... More

My daughter and I had the good fortune of having our guide CJ all for ourselves. While the scenery and solitude of Lake Chilkoot were reason enough to recommend the trip, I highly recommend CJ as a guide. She was very sweet and extremely knowledgeable, she very much added to our overall experience.

After a couple of wet days visiting Ketchikan and Juneau, my friend and I were questioning our sanity for signing up to kayak during the Skagway stop. We were rewarded with beautiful weather, a fantastic ride and commentary on our way to Haines. Our brave group of SEVEN (of thousands on the Golden Princess) were met by friendly guides who... More
