We were able to go on the glacier snowmachine tour with Andy and a few of his employees and the trip was absolutely amazing! Andy really listened to everything I wanted when we were exchanging e-mails and texts before the trip, and he really came through with a tour that was mind-blowing and personalized. I think he really likes the... More

My wife and I happened upon Andy while photographing the hooligan fish run. After talking briefly with Andy about his tour, I was all-in. Taking the jetboat up the river and back, and kayaking on the pristine lake at the end of the 20 mile river run, and looking at the myriad eagles along the way, made for the best... More

Andy and Mr.D were awesome! We signed up for the Dog Sledding and snowmobiling and the dogs were so much fun as well as informative! Mr. D took us around, gave us some background history about dog sledding, let us visit his kennel and answered all of our questions. (We always have lots). Although we have never met this guy,... We went on the 20 mile jet boat ride and it was spectacular. We went up about three different rivers. A trip up one river arrived at a beautiful lake that was surrounded by mountains and was fed by a glacier. Zooming across the water early in the morning was spectacular and the water was as still as glass. Going... More

I contacted Andy at Backcountry Access to get information. I told him I found out about his business on tripadvisor. He told me that the only not so good tripadvisor reviews came from people who didn’t go and typically they tried to use a Northern Lights 2-for-1 coupon. He told me that he only would accept a Northern Lights coupon... More

My husband and I scheduled a jet boat kayak tour for August 29, 2012 with Andy at Alaska Backcountry Access using our Northern Lights Coupon and were stood up at our boat ramp meeting location. Andy contacted us about a week before our scheduled date to try and reschedule something more to his liking, which was unprofessional to begin with,... More

Hello- This review was recently brought to our attention, being backcountry guides means we spend more time in the wilds than in front of a computer, we appreciate the chance to reply. It is unusual for us to have any complaints from our customers so we were surprised. For those wondering, there is a big part of this story missing... More

I found Alaska Backcountry while searching the web for something to do for our group while in Anchorage. Andy from Alaska Backcounrty quickly responded to my email and provided all of the info I needed to make a decision. We made a reservation and Andy volunteered a discount for the size of our group (8 people). Andy let us know... More
