Early April we were in Anchorage and took a drive from there to Alyeska. The drive is absolutely Gorgeous and only about 40 minutes or so, although we stopped dozens of times to take pictures of the surrounding mountains, floating ice, dall sheep. Once at Alyeska we took the tram up to the top. It was a clear sunny day... More

Open from 11 to 6 we thought it would soften up early, but it was hard, early morning boilerplate until about 1. Then it was great corn for the rest of the day. It never got grabby or mushy. The north side stayed pretty hard. These are spring conditions. More

some of the most scenic views we had skiing, from most places on the mountain you get to see the coastal mountains. skiers in the area are amazingly good and fast, so watch out! skiing is a bargain compared to the lower 48s and a drink at the 'sitzmark' is very enjoyable at the end of the day. lunch is... We were here first week in April - where else can you still find tons of snow on the ski trails? The temps were mid-high 30's making for great Spring skiing conditions. Just enough slopes to keep our beginner boys from getting bored, and plenty of challenging slopes for their "ski-dad". Would return again. More

The resort map shows loads of steep hike to terrain. Actually they open it only rarely (according to the locals)...rare as in a few times a year. Mostly only the steep runs below the tram and just up from it are open. Also, skinning is not allowed in the resort, nor is crossing the boundary. So if you have visions... More

Great skiiing, but probably one of the worst places for beginners. The beginner runs aren't what you may be used to at other places, just don't be suprised. The slopes are some of the best, just not for those without confidence. The most unruly surprise though is the automated lift pass system- our daughter's lift ticket tripped the gate, then... More

Skiing in 2 feet of power is always fun after a few days of only 15 inches. Over 200 inches in February caused avalanche danger and all runs could not be open. Better safe than sorry! More

Our three kids absolutely loved the skiing. We do not have the opportunity to ski as much as the kids would like... so this was a very important school vacation opportunity!! Alyeska was WONDERFUL!!!! More

Loved the mountain, good runs for all levels of skiers. The only downside is the weather -- given it is at sea level, its very suseptable to abrupt changes in weather, including unseasonable rain and winds. Plan on enjoying the scenery and ambiance, but I wouldn't make it a destination "just for skiing." Weather is too unpredicable. More
