Pa, a chiefs son and medicine man in his 70's has a fascinating knowledge of the medicinal uses of the plants on Raratonga and shares stories of his life, flora and fauna, and his treatments of illness as he takes you on a trek through areas near his home. He gives you samples of fruit when you return to his... More

A few years ago, a group of us took a cross-island trek with Pa. Now, the island is only 30km around, but I must tell you that this was NOT a walk. It was a hike up a mountain, through dense, lush rainforest, and very intense. Pa was one of the craziest people I’ve ever met in my life, but... More

We went on the Cross-island Trek with Pa, and really enjoyed it. Pa is in his 70's and has a lived a very interesting life so it was just really interesting listening to him. He was telling us that he would be doing a climb of the Needle (the big rock which you reach the base of - that is... More

I went on the hike to the Needle with Pa in 1998, and it was amazing. There was a group of about a dozen of us, and many of us were middle aged. It was definitely challenging, but Pa made it very interesting with his descriptions of the medicinal properties of the different plants. I don't remember him talking much... More

Pa is a great character & hugely knowledgeable about the local area. He shares loads of information about the plants & their medicinal properties - even got to try some of them! Scenery is fantastic and the views from the Needle amazing. You get a feel for the real Rarotonga. No need to rush - as Pa said, "the top's... More

If you spend some couple of days on Rarotonga, don't forget to do the cross-island-trek with Pa! It's an awesome and unfortgetable time, for sure. During the walk you get a lot of informations about the local plants and their medicine, about people and history, about the do's and don't's! And if you are tired or run out of energy,... More

If you want to experience real Kia Orana spirit, be sure to join a hike with Pa. I went on both the cross-island and nature walks, and both were fabulous. Pa is so knowledgeable about the history of Rarotonga, and best of all, about the plants and their medicinal properties. He "walks the talk" of what he teaches and tells... More

This is a must when visiting Rarotonga! Pa is such a nice and knowledgeable man! He welcomed us to his home and even had a homemade lunch for us after our nature walk! loved it! More

I would not recommend Pa's Cross Island Walking tour. I had a less than average fitness level but was still happy to trek it out for a four hour hike given the way the tour was advertised. However not long into the walk it became apparent Pa wasn't going to settle for anything less than military speed marching through wet... More

We went with our boys age 7, 9 and 14. All of us are avid hikers and probably could have been fine without a guide, but it was so worth it to go with Pa. If nothing else, go with him for the amazing tuna lunch roll and fresh fruit! Pa is a character and he really made the trek... More
