The ‘must do’ day lagoon cruise aboard the 21 meter Polynesian style Vaka Titi ai Tonga.Every morning at 10am Mondays to Saturdays, the sound of the conch shell signals the departure of the Vaka for six hours of lagoon magic. There’s snorkelling, swimming and sunbathing to do before tucking into to an island barbecued lunch of fresh caught ocean fish served on board and accompanied by a full bar service.Visit several motu (small islets) and beach comb at One Foot Island before returning past the old TEAL flying boat base. Impromptu entertainment by the crew will have you tying pareu, weaving coconut leaf plates or humming island tunes. They are always happy to provide snorkelling lessons for first timers.

The crew could not be more helpful and accommodating. They put on quite a show and the lunch was just magnificent. I ate things I had never seen before and coming... More

My boyfriend and I had the best day ever on the Vaka Cruise. Ali, our tour guide, was an absolute gem and made the trip that extra bit more enjoyable. We were on the day tour with Air Raro, so had a quick island tour and then boarded the Vaka for our lagoon cruise. It was faultless. The entertainment was... More

By chance we mentioned to a friend that we were traveling to Rarotonga, and he and his new wife were about to do the same on their honeymoon, and would include a visit to Aitutaki. We hadn't given much thought to Aitutaki until after we heard from our friends about their amazing experience. We booked our day trip from Rarotonga... More

Guide Ali was really impressive with his stories about the culture and life of people of aitutaki. He is passionate about his island and his stories are told as they have been told for many many years. He was a great entertainer and had us in stitches of laughter over and over again. The crew also provided us with an... More

I spent galf of my honeymoon in Aitutaki and did the vaka cruise as part of our time there. We were picked up at our hotel and headed to the boat for our day out. The crew was great and the lead tour guide was very funny. There were a lot of families on the boat so good for younger... More

BEST DAY OF OUR LIVES How do you describe the best day of your life in such few words? The point is, you can’t. It’s hard to describe the euphoria you feel when you see that heavenly lagoon on that beautiful boat in Aitutaki. It took us one glance from the plane to realize my family and I stayed on... More

The best tour we did on Aitutaki. The food, entertainment and the people we met were all amazing. We enjoyed getting to go to the different uninhabited islands. The snorkeling was excellent. The views were overwhelming. There is absolutely no way that your camera can catch the beauty.

The Vaka Cruise was an amazing day at Aitutaki. The snorkeling and the crew were superb. The fresh bbq game fish was delightful. The whole day was worthwhile.

Amazing views, very satisfying food, friendly staff and a great snorkelling experience. We took our 2.5 year old out for the day and (even missing his midday sleep) he loved it! They had toys in the boat, and the beaches were very swim friendly. Would suggest perhaps that on the way home the staff could take more advantage of the... More
