The ‘must do’ day lagoon cruise aboard the 21 meter Polynesian style Vaka Titi ai Tonga.Every morning at 10am Mondays to Saturdays, the sound of the conch shell signals the departure of the Vaka for six hours of lagoon magic. There’s snorkelling, swimming and sunbathing to do before tucking into to an island barbecued lunch of fresh caught ocean fish served on board and accompanied by a full bar service.Visit several motu (small islets) and beach comb at One Foot Island before returning past the old TEAL flying boat base. Impromptu entertainment by the crew will have you tying pareu, weaving coconut leaf plates or humming island tunes. They are always happy to provide snorkelling lessons for first timers.

Absolutely brilliant day. We had perfect weather but the staff on board were terrific. The host was a cheeky young lad with a great sense of humour. The history, stories that were told were fun to listen to. The lagoon is a sight to behold and is just so beautiful that it would have been difficult to fault this trip.... More

We had a great day out with The Vaka cruise. The pick up from our hotel was convenient, the crew were amusing and professional and the scenery beautiful. The snorkelling was interesting with excellent visibility. We got up close with a GT and saw giant clams. Lunch was very good. The lagoon actually lived up to the hype that surrounds... More

First of all the excellent: The sand and sea is stunning. The vaka is well set up and the organisation is spot on, safety is considered and the lunch is fantastic. The travel centre at the airport handled the postponements (due to weather) smoothly. Personally I found Ali to be a bore and his continuous talking spoilt my experience. I... More

We took the Vaka cruise on the last day of our trip... WOW! they picked us up from our resort, drove us to the boat, we boarded, we shown our assigned seats and given a beverage menu... and we were off to explore the lagoon! The staff was friendly and entertaining, the lagoon was magical, the stops at the islands... More

The Vaka Cruise was by far the highlight of our Cook Islands adventure, not only is the destination absolutely amazing, the staff were incredible. Ali, (our tour guide), made the day one to remember, it was an absolute pleasure to share the experience with someone who loves his home (paradise), and culture and shares it with you in a very... We were happy that we had accepted the recommendation of our resort hosts to take this cruise and enjoyed the day out on the beautiful lagoon. The itinerary was just right, with stops at three islands and another for snorkelling, and we enjoyed the lunch of local fish, fruit and vegetables. Thanks for managing the requirements for a gluten-free meal. Despite... More

This was a major highlight of our trip. Fun little early morning flight with Air Rarotonga, then met by our host for the day, the infamous Ali! He really did keep the whole day fun and light for everyone. Short drive around the island and quick stop at the store for supplies, then you are off on the Vaka for... More

We had booked to do another lagoon cruise but there was a mix up with our booking, so when the Vaka cruise pulled up with way less people than we were expecting to be on there we asked if we could jump on too. We had such an amazing day - beautiful scenery, amazing scenery, great island music, such good... More

A wonderful day with beautiful islands beachcombing, snorkelling. Interesting traditional food for lunch. Great commentary by the host Paul and lovely sounds of the musicians singers. All on island time!
