It is almost overwhelming. The stalls are packed with merchandise much of which you might have seen elsewhere already but there are a number of unique vendors and the prices were reasonable and negotiable. Vendors were very friendly and one even went to his other store to get me the tshirt in the size i wanted. Another gentleman makes very... More

If so, this a canopy covered street full of vendors with all sorts of great items for the tourist, not too pricy and you can try to negotiate for a better price if you make several purchases. We found every thing we wanted for gifts also some great items for ourselves. All at the same place is very convenient.

Ideal place to buy souvenirs if you're in the city. It is small place. Like a street of 50-70 meters. Close to the National Museum. When we went everything was half price although we could not see the original price. It was fun. You have to play a bit with them and bargain. They all sell similar things and I'm... More

If you are looking for souvenirs this is your place. One important tip, there's similar items (shirts, keyholders, handcraft in general) but depending if you buy a bundle, the price can be reduced :). Go with cash suuficient to buy, there's no ATM close arround.

Trying to sell the typical country food has an issue > Costa Rica may not have it. So typical translate to food from Central America countries. You may think: no problemo. Well the issue is that we are not experts on preparing this typical food: taste is below average and usually overpriced

This newish market for souvenirs is a good option to shop quickly for items to take home. Often things are from Guatemala instead of Costa Rica. It is not a place that showcases unique and interesting artisan goods. Suggest instead that serious artesania shoppers check out such stores as Namu which offers indigenous and other artists' products with fair trade... More

For a quick and inexpensive jaunt to shop for last minute gifts, this place has many options to chose from. Lots of Guatemalan imports disguised as Costa Rican crafts, though, so be aware and educate yourself about of what is typical Costa Rican and what is not. You are expected to negotiate the price, so don't pay the first amount... More

If you want to get a taste of Costa Rica, come to this place. You can buy stuff for cheap and eat authentic food as well. Some people might think is not safe to eat here, but I did and I was fine. Is like a maze, you get in and come out in a different entrance. But a unique cultural... More
