don't get a guide. don't go on a tour. don't expect wild life except monkeys (who come to the trail for the people, probably fed there by the park). just bring what you need for the beach, including your own refreshments, choose one, and have a great day out
Great place to meet friends and hang out for a picnic. There is a little lake but no swimming. Lots of people around all the time and seemed very safe during the daylight hours. Trees for shade or fields for football/frisbee. Parking around the edge of the park with no issues. Bathrooms available. I did not see any food concessions.... More
I visited this park briefly, and I thought it was a nice and pleasant park to spend a bit of time in, but I would not call it a must see at all.
The town you drive through tries to get you to park in the town and charge you a few bucks, don't do it, parking is plentiful and free by the park. verygood walk were you find very good trails that takes through the flora and fauna of the location. also they can show you were rocks from the volcano made this big holes that are now mini lakes.
