We loved this park, a little bit hiking but easy enough for moderately in shape people, You have the option of taking longer or shorter trails so theres no real worry. Bring water and protein snacks. I advise arranging to go solo as we arrived with a tour and felt very rushed .....We liked it so much we wanted a... More

The park was easy to get to from our hotel and is a nice spot to visit and get away from the business of the city. We enjoyed the trees, flowers, birds....

Park benches or the steps at the base of the monument are great places to sit and read a book or to people watch. If you are here in March you must take in the annual art and music festival, Transitarte, which sets up in the park. There are also excellent cafes on the north side of the park, including... More

For the record, this review is for the park located within the city of San Jose, not the Costa Rican national park system (there seems to be some confusion on here). My hostel was right across the street from here, so I walked around this little park quite a bit. It's a nice little oasis in the middle of the... More

Make sure that you get a tour guide. Ours was Mauricio. How he found the animals in the trees, I'll never know. He sets up a telescope so you can see increible birds, sloths, and bats. We didn't see any monkeys but you could hear them. He was incredibly knowledable and very friendly.

Visited this place with a daily tour. There's a nice monument in the middle, but that's about it....

There is nothing to dislike but have your walking shoes on! I got blisters walking the long nature trails and seeing all the exotic birds, reptiles, monkeys, raccoons, and the like!

We loved the jungle setting, so beautiful, scenic-different from any tropical place we'd ever been to before. We are very well traveled.
