We visited the volcano as part of a tour by Sol Tropical. It was a little cold, because the view is from over 8,000 feet. But one gets used to it. Clouds pass constantly, but if you are lucky you will get a good view. It is impressive, with the steam constantly coming from the acidic lake in the center... More

We liked sitting down to eat at the park. It gets hot midday but we were there early enough to enjoy a peaceful meal.

The National Park for the 2005 archeological dig site, much improved in 2013, makes for genuine pre-Columbian aqueducts, amphiheatre and stone walkway. At one time 20,000 peoples lived around the major ceremonial mound where the leader lived. Fascinating!

I liked that it's clean and lush like most of the Parks in and outside of San Jose & throughout Costa Rica

My wife and I spent a month at Christmastime (2014) in San Jose and found this park early on (we walked on average 20 kms/day). We came to the park the first time from the NW corner and encountered a Costarican jewellery maker fabricating some creations at a picnic table - what a more perfect workplace I couldn't imagine (when... Many people have this park, which is a downtown city park, confused with the Poas Volcano National Park. This park has NOTHING to do with volcanoes. It is downtown at the intersection of Calle 15 and Eladio Prado Sanez. It is a beautiful park to sto pin, but please do not confuse this with the volcano park or you will... More

When visitng San Jose I walked from the Parque Nacional through the Paseo de las Damas to the other two parks, Parque Espana and Parque Morazán. I love dto walk around. Beautiful gardens and very interesting architecture from different tomes in the Costa Rican history.

Great place to meet friends and hang out for a picnic. There is a little lake but no swimming. Lots of people around all the time and seemed very safe during the daylight hours. Trees for shade or fields for football/frisbee. Parking around the edge of the park with no issues. Bathrooms available. I did not see any food concessions.... More
