This was an unbelievable experience for me and my family. As we climbed the wood-lined trail to Poas Volcano, we began to smell sulfur in the air. The dense vegetation opens up to a blue sky, and a few more steps lead to the observation deck of the Poas Volcano. We were blessed with good visibility of this active volcano,... More

Great place. We had a great time. Had to hike to the beach but there were plenty of monkeys and other wildlife to keep us company. The view of the ocean is spectacular.

If you've already been on a number of forest/jungle hikes in Costa Rica with the goal of seeing wildlife, you might consider passing on this one. You will not see the range of wildlife in this very busy park as you might in other jungles of Costa Rica. The large crowds tend to startle away many of the would-be spottings.... More

Manuel Antonio Park is not exactly as I expected. My wife and I took a guided tour with Iguana Tours. There is good and bad in taking a guided tour. The good is that our guide was very informative, found many animals and insects that you got to see them up close because he had a scope. My guess is... More

don't get a guide. don't go on a tour. don't expect wild life except monkeys (who come to the trail for the people, probably fed there by the park). just bring what you need for the beach, including your own refreshments, choose one, and have a great day out

Great place to meet friends and hang out for a picnic. There is a little lake but no swimming. Lots of people around all the time and seemed very safe during the daylight hours. Trees for shade or fields for football/frisbee. Parking around the edge of the park with no issues. Bathrooms available. I did not see any food concessions.... More

I visited this park briefly, and I thought it was a nice and pleasant park to spend a bit of time in, but I would not call it a must see at all.
