This is a great park to see when in downtown San Jose. You will see locals walking through, sitting and eating, and just generally "hanging out". I loved the statue of the man sweeping the sidewalks that the pigeons seemed to love!

The central park has a lot of potential but it seems as though the people of this area have left it to fall apart. There are beggars around and you can see the wear and tear of the area. The cathedrals are interesting and have a lot of history though. There are also quite a few places to eat. Overall,... More

On our walk around San Jose, we stopped by the park which was located directly across from the cathedral. Since it was a Sunday, there were a ton of people lounging all over the park and enjoying the sun. The place had a ton of beggars though and countless of homeless people asking for money. Safe during the day, maybe... More

This park has definitely seen better days but the central elevated structure is a good place to watch the hustle and bustle of the city. Opposite the cathedral and National Theatre so easy to pop over. Nothing to get excited about.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Aurola which is opposite this small Park. Unfortunately like most older buildings in San Jose they have been poorly maintained which is ashame but this is Costa Rica

We walked over to the park after a visit to the National Theatre. Not much to say about it. Not worth going out of the way for. It was crowded and dirty. There was also a group performing in the middle which took away any possible photos. If you are in the area walk over but you will not need... More

People watching no matter where you are is the same. It's very interesting to sit amongst others to enjoy the view. People come to this park, and sit for hours talking, laughing, and to have lunch. I like seeing older gentlemen talking in another language besides English. Central Park (Parque Central) was my favorite spot to sit during the day.... More

Not as big as NY's Central Park, but it is a park and it is central. Great spot to hang out and go people watching. I had an hour or so to kill before dinner, so I bought a chocolate shake from a nearby Dairy Queen, sat down near the top steps under the park's dome and watched the people... More

The center dome in the park looks nice, there are a few trees in the park that allow to catch the shade. The park itself is not that big, but it provides what it was built for: allows people to relax in the city and it's a common meeting place.

A place to see the real people of San Jose gathering. If you enjoy people watching you will enjoy this spot.
